Ruam Mit Thai
Without a doubt, the best Thai restaurant in the Twin Cities makes up what it lacks in decor with excellent food and service. The menu at Ruam Mit Thai features traditional Thai cuisine with tastes from hot to scorching. The pad Thai , a classic stir fry with green onions, bean sprouts, and rice noodles topped with cooked egg and roasted peanuts, and the deep fried trout are especially popular. The spring rolls, consisting of barbecued pork, shrimp, cellophane noodles and shredded carrots served with a hot, spicy peanut sauce, should not be missed. The lunchtime buffet is a big draw.
The food was decent, but the service was HORRIBLE. To be fair, we were there during the beginning of the lunch rush, so the place was almost half full when we were finally seated. However, it took 30 minutes for our waitress to come to our table just to ask what we wanted to drink. We were there for over an hour before we were served and we waited for over 20 minutes for our bill, before we just left money at the table. The waitress was young, seemingly inexperienced, and slightly rude, never offered any apology for the slow service. One of my worst service experiences ever. At least the food was good. And I really liked their Thai lemonade! Maybe the key for adequate service is to go during off hours.
