Ambience? This restaurant has ambience...local flavor, tables close enough to eavesdrop, fantastic service, and wonderful food (for the price it is even better, but even if they charged more, it would still be fantastic). Might I add ice cold bathrooms?---just to wake you up after a satisfying meal of hot and spicy chicken, fried rice, and wonderful egg rolls. They also do a very good shrimp with broccoli and chicken with vegetables. While the lunch menu is limited and I have not yet sampled their soups, the food is very good, the service is friendly and fast, and two can have lunch for under $12 (and perhaps leftovers as well). As noted, it's a small place and investing in glamour is not their speciality...however, if you want good food at a good price, local flavor, and you aren't trying to impress anyone with white linens and overpriced food, give this place a try. Besides, they let you order by number (so if you can't pronounce it, you are off the hook :-) )

Best Vietnamese Bang for the buck in St Paul

Located in what looks like an old fast food joint, this is the best value for Pho and other Viet specialties in this area. $6-$10 and you're full and happy leaving Trieu Chau. Friendly staff and owner, excellent for a quick lunch...

Ok, the place is dirty as hell. The last time I ate there I saw a roach crawling on my table and when I told the young guy behind the counter he just said no one ever seen a roach at the place before. Nasty restaurant I don't care how good the food is.

I just want to say, this place isn't all that bad but the only thing that really bothers me is that there aren't enough space, tables, chairs for everyone to sit. They really need to make the place bigger!! seriously! because this place cooks good food but the wait to get seated can be forever!!! the customer service was alright but can improve! i was actually rushed one time because the line of people were forming at the front door. i just wish that this place would look a lot cleaner also cause its a bit messy and dirty. like i said if they make the place bigger then it'll look less trashy. i love the grill pork sandwich though...you should try it! its freaken GOOD!!! overall its a ok place to eat, but if you have a big party then try going somewhere else! because there just aren't enough chairs and space to fit everyone. sad....i know...

Quick, Cheap and Very Tasty

OK, it lacks ambiance (it's obviously an old fast food joint), but the food and service are wonderful and at a very low price. I've been there 4 times in the two weeks I've been in town. And I've settled on my favorite dish - it's #148 on the menu. It's Bun with beef and a grilled shrimp skewer. Nice shrimp, good beef, and crisp julienned veggies. Highly recommend it. One tip - it's hard to see this place if you're going East on University. The sign is obscured by a tall tree. But you can easily see the blue Maytag sign on the shop next door - if you see it, the restaurant is just before it.

Great food. Wish they didn't change owner. Overall, this is the only place I know that serves meatball soup with NO noodles...I love it! The only bad thing is their dishes are too greasy.
