never again
By Lauri, 5/6/11
stayed there on our wedding night, the mildew odor came as soon as you walked in the front door and continued on in our room with shag carpet that must have been there since the hotel was first built. The toilet was pretty much right next to the bed, how romantic, no shower but a hose in the tub to shower. Not to mention the 4 inch deep closet to try to hang your clothes in. Sent an email re: the conditions and how disapointed we were but never got a response. I would have concidered trying this place again if they would have gotton back to me, but now I will never and I am telling everyone about my experience. We had friends stay that night also and they had the same issues. Normally I never comment but this place ruins our beautiful city image

Historical and Elegant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/29/10
A true throwback to what historical hotels should be all about. Great rooms that are all different, and a great dining facility. Their sunday brunches are wonderful. Their fondue dinner is one of the best ive seen. This place has become a special place for my wife and i. Great service!

One of a kind!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/29/10
The Lowell Inn is older and beautiful! We stay there about once a year for a weekend and enjoy it every year. Each room is different, and some are quite interesting. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is easy to walk to restaurants and events by the river. Wonderful breakfast and dinner onsite as well.

We love the Lowell Inn!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/09
My husband and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary at the Lowell Inn this week. We went there on our honeymoon and have gone back every year since. Over the years, the inn has changed ownership several times. We are happy to report that the current owners have restored the charm! We ate the fondue dinner in the Materhorn room both nights. The food is better than ever and the service is impeccable. All of the staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi tubs are perfect for two. We were so relaxed at the end of our stay that they had to pour us into the car!

Perfect for parties and special events
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/2/09
We had my mothers surprise birthday party here, and it was absolutely perfect. The beef tenderloin was superb as was the entire spread, and the staff was fantastic. The Garden Room was beautiful and intimate. I would recommend the Lowell Inn for any party or special event.

The Hellmouth
By Erin Johnson, 8/8/08
Upon arriving at what appeared to be a charming overnight getaway from the stresses of daily life I was quite impressed with the architecture of the building; however; the ambience was ruined upon approaching the front door when a peculiar pungent odor began to ambush my nostrils. My best estimation of the source of this odor is that there has been a long time incontinent feline resident in the lobby. Although the odor dissipated as we traversed the stairs, my hopes of any escape continued to plumet like the local real estate market as I entered the transient accommodation I had procured. My morbid curiosity forced me to investigate under the plastic mattress pad. Upon removing the mattress pad I discovered multiple mysterious and suspicious discolorations on the fabric of the mattress, which no doubt had leaked their way to the other side. Swallowing my vomit and using some stress relieving meditation skills I proceded to place my body on the "bed". Over the next several minutes my body was accosted by the bargain buy mattress. After enduring a prone position on the slab for 1 1/2 hours I decided to meander my way into the office/breakfast room. I was not sure how it could go awry with a simple continental breakfast. Apparently I was in a rather optimistic mood. After reviewing the food items I decided on an innocent looking chocolate muffin. I got back to my room as my mouth began to anticipate the morsel. I picked up the muffin and noticed something was amiss. As I released my grip on the muffin I was alarmed to find that the object of food would not release it's hold from my innocent appendage. As the sun was coming up, I thought if nothing else I could enjoy the view of quaint downtown Stillwater. As I argued the shade into an open position I viewed the roof of the kitchen, and the happenings in the rooms on the other side of this antiquated building. In conclusion, being the cynical person that I am, I would not recommend this place of transient accommodation to anyone who values their hard earned American dollar.

FINE DINNING GONE BAD
By myob, 6/21/08
some freinds and i went there to lunch and were not pleased. the food was overly seasoned,i dont know what took so long for the cook to make a few sandwiches, the people at the front desk were realy rude.the cake i had tasted old. they still charge you fine dinning prices for food that is not.

THE place to stay in Stillwater
By kate, 5/25/08
I recently had the pleasure of spending several days at the Lowell Inn. Aside from feeling like I had taken a walk back in time I simply fell in love with the inn. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the staff leave no detail unattended. The restaurant is excellent and the chef is conscientious, creative and truly dedicated to her work. The staff are consistently pleasant and helpful and made me feel right at home. I will certainly return and bring more family with me, all the way from California. Kate Davis
