Our dining experience tonight was awful! To start the bartender was unfriendly and never once smiled. We were there for about 2.5 hours because of the slow service. It took over a half hour to get our coffee, another half hour for our salads, etc. In our group of 6 we had 3 with cold prime rib and 3 with burnt chicken cordon bleu. We were offered 2 of the chicken meals for free and $4 off of another. We still overpaid seeing that 75% of our food stayed on the plate and went straight to the garbage. It was a waste of time and money.
The hostess who is the owner has a big time attitude. It is very disappointing that their menu on the internet does not have prices for their different entrees. When asked what their prices are for the various entrees, she said they were comparable to the other locations in the area. It would be nice to know how much a meal is going to cost you so you can budget accordingly. One time when we were at this establishment, my niece was given the wrong dinner, and the hostess wouldn't even comp the meal or give a discount for their mistake. I know where I live if there was a mistake in the meal, the manager would at least reduce the price of the meal or comp the entire meal for their mistake.
Food is good service is ok, however the hostess who is the owner has somewhat of an attitude. Every year we go there with a large group and she seems put off becasuje we all want to sit together as a family. One year my niece ordered chicken cordon blue and was given chicken kiev. the server wrote down the wrong menu item. My niece decided to eat that dish, but the owner refused to comp the meal for the server's mistake. The only reason my niece decided to eat what was given to her is because the server said it would take another 45 minutes to prepare the dish she originally ordered. If this happened where I live the restaurant would have made new dish right away and also would have comped the meal. Also I think the prices a high.
Our dinner of almond encrusted walleye with wild rice was delicious. Our server was warm, friendly and smiling even though very busy serving others. The setting of polished logs and a 32 foot ceiling is so north woods. We would return any time and hope to find other such delights as we travel west. Oh, and enjoy the wonderful clam chowder that was not too rich or salty. We applaud the owners and chef!
