My husband and I went to Muddy Waters tonight and the place was VERY cold inside so we wanted to be seated outside. We waited for the host and she said she couldn't seat us a the 2 empty tables because they were for 4 people not just 2. I couldn't believe it. She said we could sit inside and I proceeded to tell her I wasn't dressed warm enough to sit inside. She then said that she would go ask the waitress if she could sit us at her table. She came back and said the waitress said no. I couldn't believe it. Then I asked for a manager and guess what.....there wasn't one. What a dumb policy. I will NEVER go back. I will also tell my friends not to go. The host had blonde hair and young. Chastised us as we were leaving.
I have reviewed restaurants all over this country and, indeed, a few other countries. I usually get paid to write my thoughts as a critic on the subject of dining experiences, however, on this occasion I must proffer this as unsolicited and uncompensated. Any critic must professionally consider that there are, primarily, three aspects we look at: atmosphere/service, presentation and, of course, taste.
Muddy Waters is absolutely one of the finest eating establishments on the Croix or anywhere else for that matter. The atmosphere is perfect for entertaining old friends or new acquaintances. The food is superb from the appetizers to the main course. I would recommend anything from the menu, my personal proclivity tending toward the amazing prime-rib.
The service staff has obviously learned of their role in the eating experience as they deftly approach their duties with friendly and professional mannerisms unfailing even at the busiest of times.
My latest outing to the Waters included both old and new friends. After boating all day, live bands in the park, an amazing sunset and fireworks over the river, all in our party agreed that the high-light of our day was our dining experience at Muddy Waters in Prescott, WI.
Thank you for letting me express my opinion.
Muddy Waters in Prescott is the Best! Great food! Everything I have tired from their menu has been excellent! The service is great. One of my favorites is the pepper steak with au gratin potatoes! Their au gratins are homemade and OH Yum! Check it out.. great river scene too!
This place is great! Good food, good service, good atmosphere! Can't wait until summer when the music is going... the only bad thing I can think of is that the downstairs bar was very smoky... otherwise it was a very nice experience!
Love the place. The owner is very friendly and accomodating. The food is great and the place is very clean. One thing I believe no one can beat is the outstanding service. Steve is always upgrading his decor. The outside bar overlooking the river is my favorite. Recommend it to everyone.
PS: Try his smoked prime rib and the penne pasta!!
My only complaint, no ranch salad dressing. Their french fries, which taste great, closely resemble those of McD's. Otherwise, I really enjoyed myself and would recommend this bar/grill to anyone passing through.
I love this place!! I live in Hasting, Mn (just over the river) but I frequent Muddy Waters often. The food is fabulous, everything on the menu is worth trying!! I have never had one bad expericence there. Summertime is absolutely the best time to visit...by car, by motorcycle or by boat with live music every weekend you will have a good time!!!
