Newport Steak House, Wisconsin Dells

We chose this steakhouse based off of a few good reviews from other people. I was expecting high quality food and unfortunately came away highly disappointed. My 10 ounce filet was $27.99 and was an average cut of steak at best. The wait staff was good but the food and drinks were overpriced.

We are from Chicago, and recently my extended family and I spent a weekend in the Dells to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday and my parent's 50th anniversary. Based on the menu variety (kids, adults, and the eldery) we chose this restaurant. We we not disappointed! From the minute we walked through the door until we left, we were treated like royalty. The food and service was excellent! Our waitress was outstanding and a good time was had by all 13 of us.

Good find! From the stuffed mushroom appt.,spinach salad, 10oz oscar style filet, crab stuffed tilapia, fresh green beans, homemade esspresso torte was all very good. Friendly service. Well priced for the area. Just wish we lived closer. I give newport a big thumbs up!

The first potato had a black center and the steak was medium well instead or medium rare. I asked for a new potato and steak. The second potato was as expected and the steak had a strange taste. Gary, when asked to address the situation, said "I am not cooking you a third steak." Needless to say my birthday dinner was a baked potato and the last 3 bites of my husbands steak. After reflection I am positive that the steaks were microwaved to thaw. Meat has a different coloration and grain when it has been microwaved. I have never been treated so rudely. Don't waste your time. Gary doesn't want your business obviously.

We recently tried to make a reservation for a large party. I spoke to Gary and he took my number and promised to call back to let me know if they could accomodate us on the date requested.I made sure to let him know that it is important to us to cement our plans. Well, it has been a week and not even the courtesy of a call back. I am so unimpressed at the lack of professionalism or at least common decency to get back to me. We have made other arrangements and were treated very nicely at the House of Embers.

When you come in, it's more of a relaxed, homey atmosphere. No fancy furnishings or decorations. There is a large bar area right off the lobby where you can enjoy a beverage either while waiting for a table or after dinner. The food here is very good, it's a little on the pricey side, but good. They have wonderful corn fritters you can order as a side dish. Don't miss them!

I give Newport Steak house 6 stars. They have great customer service and fantastic steaks that you can cut with a fork. We love the place

This is probably in the top 3 restaurants in the area. The tenderloin medallions are to die for, as are the chocolate martini's. They have a little table off to the side with cheese and a variety of crackers and nuts. A little pricey but so well worth it if you are treating yourself to wonderful food.

2nd time we've gone to the Newport, and I must say, it is still impressive, the filet was perfect, the mood and atmosphere unpretentious. A nice view overlooking a bend in the Wisconsin River while dining on a superbly cooked meal with excellent service made for a grand night. Their bar is stocked with the best, as a bourbon drinker I couldn't ask for more ... (or could I). A little spendy, but indulge yourself occaisonally.
