I have been there twice, once before the remodling and once after. The first time I was there, the margarita was TERRIBLE. I know this because I was a bartender for 12 years. The food was nothing to rave about. The chips were fresh and the salsa okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but the interior is very nice compared to what it was.
What a terrible meal! The salsa tasted like store bought tomato paste. The buffet food was old, burnt and dried out. I wouldn't even have given that food to my dog! The kicker was when we went to pay and stated that the meal was terrible they didn't even offer a discount or even care for that matter! I barely made it home before I felt sick! If you are a smart person you won't waste the $9.95 on that crap food!
Ate there tonight. Started out with the salsa that tasted like canned tomato paste. The marguerita was not good which was surprising for a mexican restaurant. The food tasted like low grade dog food. The kitchen looked filthy. Even my menu had food on it! Gross! By far the worst meal I have ever eaten- including Army chow hall!
I was unimpressed with the buffet and thier version of salsa the first time we went, so the second time I order from the menu. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a capital UCK. Putting enormous amounts of salt on something that taste like crap only turns it into salty crappy food. believe me it's not authentic or scumpous either. It only takes one look. If it's good authentic mexican food then wouldn't there be Mexicans eating there. I didn't even see one in the kitchen. Taco Bell has better food. Save your money, there's a new one up the street we will try that one next time.
I have eaten at dos gringos a few times. it seems that the food just gets worse and worse. The service was horrible last time i was there on a friday night. My waitress was rude. The hostess that was there looked unclean and was very rude. There was hair in my food on another visit we had. One of the funiest things is i know the head cook in the kitchen and i guess their salsa is really pace pecante with seasonings and paste added... Really authentic!!!
On Father's Day, 2008, we ordered the $8 lunch buffet as usual and we were billed $14. I brought this to the attention of the waitress who informed us that because it was Father's day, they were serving prime rib and therefore charging the higher price. She mentioned that other customers had also questioned the price. The waitress said nothing of a price change during ordering and nowhere did we see in the restaurant a posted higher price for this buffet. In fact, on our table was a buffet listing which included the Sunday lunch buffet listed at $8. We were told we could talk to the manager but I was so upset at being cheated that I knew I wouldn't keep my cool. So we just paid and left. I did stop back in a short time later and picke up a copy of my bill after I noticed they conveniently 'forgot' to give me one at checkout. As for the food quality, it isn't any better than the chain stores.
