It also provides corned beef and turkey clubs. The restaurant s dessert menu includes strawberry shortcake and pumpkin pie. Nick's Restaurant s guests include writers, artists and celebrities. It additionally offers a daily special menu. The restaurant provides deep-fried jumbo shrimp, New York strip steak, southern fried chicken, pork chops, and vegetarian Rueben and gyro.
Nick's is a little bar and grill. There are velvet paintings on the walls, the lighting is soft, the seats are black vinyl, the wait staff is friendly to the point where you keep wondering if they know you from somewhere. Normal people aren't supposed to be that polite to someone they haven't met before.
The prices aren't the cheapest around. But they aren't high by any means either. I can't remember exactly what we spent when the three of us (2 adults, 1 child) went there last. But I'm pretty sure that we kept it under $30.00. And we got pie.
Nick's works great for drinks, meals, dessert, or a light lunch. They are all purpose that way. If you are going for a meal on the weekends, (lunch or supper) you'll want to call ahead. Or if you know that there is an event at the overture center.
If the Wife and I are out for the evening we'll start here with supper. Their mushroom and swiss has become the standard against which I measure all other Mushroom and swiss burger. Then we'll hit the town for a bit. After our evening we'll end the night by coming back to Nick's and gettign coffe and pie.
If we go downtown as a family, this place is always our first choice, especially if we going to the Overture Center or Capitol specificly.
If you frequent State Street, or if you've got something coming up down there, I'd suggest you give Nick's a try.
