Milwaukee's Best Polish Restaurant George Burzynski grew up on his family owned farm in Poland. As a child one of his favorite activities was to cook alongside of his grandmother who taught him traditional Polish dishes such as czarnina, bigos and pierogi. In Poland he earned a Masterac2s Degree in Economics. Seeking a better life he left Poland and immigrated to the US in 1980 carrying with him his love of cooking, his recipes and a dream to one day open a restaurant featuring the authentic Polish dishes taught to him by his grandmother. In 1983 George realized his dream and opened Polonez Restaurant located on South Sixth Street in Milwaukee. Today George still prepares the traditional Polish dishes taught to him by his grandmother and American favorite dishes which he perfected in over 27 years of operating Polonez Restaurant. Patrons from the old location followed George to the new location in St. Francis and continue to enjoy the traditional Polish menu selections today. Georgeac2s menu at Polonez Restaurant offers many of the traditional Polish dishes served at his first location but he has expanded the menu to include American favorite dishes. The czarnina, duck blood soup served is the same recipe he and his grandmother developed. It is a favorite of the patrons who offer state it is acoejust like their grandmother madeac. Czarnina is offer daily along with Tripe Soup and a soup of the day. In addition to national TV, he has been featured in Cooking Light Magazine and was recognized for his Friday Night Fish Fries by the Milwaukee Magazine.
Ate here for the first time with several family members - all with strong Polish heritage. We could not say enough about Polonez - TRULY homemade food with complete authenticity. Highly recommended - we will be back very soon. We felt welcome from the time we walked in until we left. Consider celebrating a birthday here as the staff was very willing to sing Happy Birthday in Polish!
Two of the nicest people I have ever met run this outstanding restaurant. The food is always excellent. Super wait staff. You can't go wrong here. It is important to support local restaurants and this is the best of the best.
Best Polish food in Milwaukee. The Pierogis are just like grandma's and the wiener schnitzel is to die for. Try the potato pancakes and you will be amazed. The fish fry is also really good. The bar is a good place to try Polish beers and vodkas and the bartenders are always helpful with making a drink selection based on what your tastes are.
Best Polish restaurant in town. To bad I couldn't get a few of their recipes for home. The Bigo's is the best I ever ate. Other great items are Pierog's, Nalesiki(polish pancakes). When I got there. I usually order a polish plate. Comes with a little taste of several items on the menu. Very clean restaurant. Very nice owners and staff there. The Sunday brunch is out of this world.
The best Polish Cuisine Restaurant at 4016 South Packard Ave, St. Francis (Milwaukee) Wisconsin, is by far, one of the best restaurants in Wisconsin. The Sunday Buffet brunch has all your favorites(including live music) made from scratch by authentic Polish cooks and served by an outstanding wait staff. The cheese pierogies are to die for, the potato pancakes, sausages, cabbage rolls, crepes, desserts, are the best ever! The atmosphere is not only romantic, but also a fun place for family gatherings or take out!
