My co-workers and I tried the lunch buffet for the first time yesterday, and were EXTREMELY impressed with the high quality of service (our water glasses were never empty, dirty plates bussed immediately) and with the great variety of excellent tasting food. We had a wonderful experience, from our pleasant greeter, to the mango ice cream for dessert. We used to frequent Mayura (up the street) for lunch buffet, but are no converts to Maharja. Thanks for a fabulous (and oh so filling!) lunch!

Good lunch buffet, especially on weekends. However, average food when catered from here.

To my knowledge this may be a first fine dine Indian restaurant in town. Many varies in the buffet served every day during lunch hours. Courteous staff and personal attention given by the owner makes this restaurant popular. Hot and Mild spicy cuisine and a long menu of Appetizers make this restaurant unique. Butter Chicken and Vegetable Rice are two recommended the most.

If you are thinking about buying a restaurant.com gift certificate and trying this place, be sure to present it before ordering and make sure what the restrictions are. Despite fulfilling all the requirements printed on the certificate, I was rudely informed that the particular dish I ordered did not apply and the certificate was denied. I was also rudely informed that I should have presented it before ordering (which is also not stated). Overall, the food was pretty good (though some of the seafood was overly fishy tasting), but based on the service, I will NOT return. Mayura, just down the street, has equally good (if not better) food and by far friendlier and superior service.

This is the best Indian restaurant in Milwaukee. The lunch buffet is great, especially if you are a vegetarian. There are always allot of tasty items to choose from. If you are eating there for dinner it is possible that you might get something that you don't like but it is rare. I pretty much get the same menu items now that I know what is really delicious; coconut soup, sambar, shahi paneer, mango vegetable, are a few really good ones.

Maharaja has always been a hit and miss for me. Sometimes the buffet is awesome(mostly on weekends) but at times I have been disappointed especially with non veg curries. The meat dishes are not always fresh, but they do have lot of variety

I had the opportunity to eat at the Maharaja in Milwaukee this afternoon. Excellent place! The food was very good, especially the curry chicken. Friendly staff. I even seen one of the owners serving customers, which is good to see. The chai tea was wonderful. I plan to eat there again when visiting in Milwaukee! Thanks for the wonderful memories Maharaja! When first entering this excellent restaurant, you are greeted by a wonderful aroma. Journeying farther in, you discover their bar, filled with both Indian and American alcohol. A matredee spots you, and asks how many you have with you. You tell him, and he disappears into the beautiful dining room. It's not a long wait, you are soon seated. You then have the time to taste the wonderful indian cuisine. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. With great service, excellent food, and a beautiful restaurant, you are sure to be blown away by this experience. If you are looking for a deeply satisfying meal, or simply a quick snack, you definitely want to give this place a try.

Best Indian food in the city, hands down. After years of being the Best in Milwaukee, they upped their wonderful buffet from 8.00 to 10.99.I just went last week.the food is still great, and the flatbread is still like little hot fluffy bites of delicious heaven, its just more expensive now.
