Love the Boathouse. Always go there when we come to Kenosha. Great Steaks. Melt in your mouth. Steaks where we live now don t compare. Love to sit on the porch. Great view of Lake Michigan. Always great service and friendly staff.
went there this friday around 9:30 odered a full rack of ribs, veggies, clam chowder and a baked potatoe. app. was cheese sticks. for starters the cheese sticks where cut in half the long way and there where 6 so that would be 3 cheese sticks they used NICE. clam chowder was out of this world good, no baked potatoe they had just sold out ?????? rack of ribs where just like the menu stated tasted just like ham i wanted ribs not ham. and for the veggies they were moosh someone without teeth would have loved them but i do have teeth and would of liked just a little crunch to them. they would have got one star if not for the soup and did i mention i went to the bar to get my second drink. Im sorry but not a good choice of places to go that night.
We like the boathouse for some of the things. The entertainment, the drinks, the bartenders and waitstaff are pretty good. The kitchen is too small to handle it when the restaurant is very busy.
I think their buffet and holiday food is better than the regular menu food.
I would stick to the sandwiches and forget the meals there.
The problem is that the owner is a poor manager and doesn't know what to do anymore. He makes poor decisions and is cheap and unfair to employees. We've been going there for a long time and even though we like some things about it and it has a great lovely location by the lake, most of the food isn't good and some things could use improvement.
They also think opening one window in the summer constitutes good compliance with the no smoking law. How lame!
We held my grandmother's 90th birthday party at the Boathouse. It was wonderful! We hosted about 65 people. Everyone was served the pork roast, stuffing and mashed potatoes and it was fantastic. The service was great. Drinks were always available and yet the service was not annoying. It was a lovely afternoon. I would definitely hold a party with pre-ordered food again.
Dont waste your $$$ My husband and I went here for my birthday recently and it was one of the worst dining experiences ive ever had, and hands down the worst service! I wish we had walked out in the beginning when it took ten minutes for a server to talk to us and another 10 for her to come take our appetizer order and bring a soda (my husband finally got up to get his own refill). It just got worse as the meal went on, with us sitting waiting for twenty minutes after we finished eating for her to realize we needed boxes, and then only brought two when we had 5 plates of food to wrap up between appetizers and entrees. Lucky for her we had a coupon so she got to add gratuity, otherwise it would have been the first time in my life i'd stiffed a waitress! How does a business like that survive this long??
It was our 11th Anniversary and my wife and I wanted to go to a nice little restaurant on the lake for dinner. I had read other reviews on this site and they were all positive reviews of this restaurant. Well, maybe they have not been there for a while, but I was very disappointed. The restaurant needs some cleaning on the outside as we asked to sit outside and there were spider webs and dead bugs at every window (this was our first impression). Others posted a beautiful lakefront view. The only view was of a little outlet to the lake. You could not see the lake from the restaurant. I will say the waitress was very friendly and through the disappionting night, tried her best. She attended to us right away. We called ahead of time to make sure we got reservations if needed, so we thought that it would help the service, but that was the furthest thing from the truth. After waiting over an hour just for our appetizer, we finally walked out. The waitress commented to make sure we tell the manager, otherwise they take it out of her pay, which tells me this is a common theme that happens at this restaurant. I would suggest staying away!!
I have tried over two years to keep going, it is a fun place to go, the things inside and servers are nice. The drinks are good, but the food was just horrible, every single time. We have gone there at least 6 times over two years, and I can't believe we dumped that much money into it. We went on a busy night and expected a little delay. Our food took an hour and fifteen minutes to get. When I did get my fish and fries (how hard is that??) THEY WERE SEVERELY UNDERCOOKED. Luckily i returned it, but didnt want to wait so long to get more food.
Great Long Islands
Fun during the summer to sit outside or have the screens open
Servers are mediocre (ours kept telling us 3 more minutes at least 10 times for our food to be ready)
Wait too long
Just icky all together
RUN RUN RUN IF YOU CAN!
We went to the Boathouse on Father's Day, a very busy day. We sat outside and got the last open table. The hostess was very nice, but we sat for over 15 minutes without a waiter and watched as 3 other tables that came in after us got served. After being ignored by all of the servers as I tried to flag one down, I walked to the bar and asked for service, where I got the third degree from the bartender, who apparently didn't believe that I hadn't been served. I asked him to just send someone to our table. When the waiter finally came, he made up an excuse and took our orders. By this time, we already knew what we wanted.
Our drinks came right away, but our dinners took over an hour! They kept coming to our table giving excuses, then finally a different waitress told us that the kitchen ran out of paper and lost our orders! We had to wait another 20 minutes. When we finally got our food, it didn't look or taste good. I think they were trying to get us out of there, because by that time we were all very upset.
I will never go to the Boathouse again.
