My husband and I have been taking our kids to the dells at least twice a year for the last 6 years. We decided to go to Blue Harbor just on a whim and WOW was it worth it. The hotel is beautiful, clean, the staff was so nice. If you passed anyone in the hall that worked there they would say hello and ask how your day was. Everyone spoke english (cannot say that for the hotels in the Dells). The water park was clean and very nice. The restaurants in the hotel were reasonable and the food was great. Our room was bigger then any room we would have paid the same amount for in the Dells and the beach was a great surprise. Even though it was January we enjoyed a walk along the path on the beach. Great place to take your kids and not have to deal with the downtown traffic of the dells.
I visited Blue harbor just for brunch with my family. We spent a great amount of time walking around the resort, viewing the splendor of the new facility. Neat walkway along the lake leading to a beach, not to mention the wonderful amount of well maintained grass and landscapes that surround the resort. Simply amazing is summer.
The brunch however wasn't quite up to par. The greeter was a very friendly gentleman, the price was reasonable, but the food not so good. The buffet wasn't too crowded, yet they ran out of items in the trays. We waited for them, but left to eat when our meals once they started getting cold. When they did finally put out new brunch items, like the bacon, it was simply a pile of undercooked rubbery bacon. We all had a good laugh and never did get to satisfy our craving for bacon or sausages.
Can't comment on the rooms, restaurants or waterpark. Just had brunch.
The kids will love you for bringing them to this resort. It has a really fun indoor waterpark and cute themed restaurants. The hotel has impressive curb appeal and an incredible view of Lake Michigan. A heads up if you stay in a room with bunk beds for the kids be sure to request sheets on the bunk beds. They only provide a flimsy sleeping sac and the bunks have a plastic covered mattress. I requested sheets after I discovered there were none. They quickly sent some up but I had to put them on. What a pain that was. Especially for the top bunk.
