Tappa's Steak House, Davenport

I won't be back!! I took a friend there because they steaks were said to be soooo good. Well my steak was to be med well. When I first cut my fillet, it looked very well done & very dry. I took a bite & it tasted burned. I turned it over & it WAS burned. When the waitress came back to check on us, I told her my steak was burned. She checked our order & it was supposed to be med-well & walked away. Took a few steps, came back & said I'll give you $3.00 off your bill. She again left our table. I was left to eat a burned steak. I was told that she was the owners wife, but I don't know who she was. Bad food & bad waitress.

Great Steaks And Seafood, Great Service, Great Value, Clean, Small, Hole in the wall, Lousy parking. My Kind of Place. We will return often.

I'm stuck in the bush in southwest Alaska for now, but whenever I get home to Davenport I love to hit Tappa's. They are one of the best values in the QCA. The place always has great service. The steaks are great, and the place is neat & clean. It is unpretentious, the neighborhood is nondescript, and IMO it is well worth the trip from anywhere in or near the QCs.

Went to Tappa's for the first time Aug. 8th for my birthday dinner. Was great. Seated right away and given water. Had time to look over menu. Didn't take long to get food once we had ordered. Steak was cooked the way we ordered. Everything tasted great. Will go again if I get back to the Davenport area

ANYONE THAT SAYS DIFFERANT AIN'T GOT NO TASTE FOR GREAT FOOD!!!! DON'[T LIKE IT DON'T CPOME BACK. WON'T HURT MY FEELIN' NONE! We ate at Tappa's Steak House on Tuesday evening April 7, 2009. There were 6 of us and we had driven down from Maquoketa. We had read the reviews and weren't sure what to think. We were seated immediately, had our drink order taken and it was delivered within minutes. Had time to look over the menu and the waitress was ready to take our order ( forgot to ask her name ). Not sure how long it took to get our food but it seemed like we were visiting and it didn't take long. We had steaks and they were all cooked to order, juicy and tender. The waitress was very attentive, kept our glasses filled with water and anything else we needed. The place was clean and the waitress was very cordial. When she noticed that we had gifts, she asked whose birthday it was and she brought me a brownie sundae with candle which was an added touch. She also brought mints to the table when we paid our bill. We would definately go back.

are you kidding!! we have heard good stuff about tappas and my wife suggested we try it. so as I looked up on here and read all of your reviews, thought to myself okay why not. well in a nut shell first impression Tiny... parking lot small maybe room for 8 or so cars, no biggy walk in and....... Tiny Bar.. yep... bar, looks like they took the pool table out so they could seat some people. looked like there was seating for maybe 50 or so and maybe another 10 or so at the bar which was all the same maybe.... 20 by 40 foot room. So we sit down and get greeted with our waitress/bartender this is a 2 person operation bartender and cook from what I seen. but she friendly she brought cracker baskets to the table. anyways. wasnt nothing like what we expected to experience. We orderd our food. my wife had steak and I had the steak and shrimp. now let me tell you this place I suppose isnt bad food or atmosphere if you and the guys want to spend some bucks drink some drinks and just hang out at the bar and maybe get an overpriced meat and potato dinner. okay side tracked, sorry. we also orderd some appatizers they weren't to bad $5.50 each. got them and then we got our food, my wifes looked fine 10oz strip and baked potato with texas toast for $16.00 and mine looked like a kids meal. I got a meat nugget, three shrimpand toast for $16.00. wife never did get refill on soda my daughters were with us as well and one had the same as my wife and the other 2 had sandwiches the sandwiches looked okay for about $6.50. We got our bill and I about choked over $90 bucks over hundred with tip. so on the way home all we could think about is We could have spent around the same amount and had a way better meal and experience just about anywhere Boathouse, Red Lobster, Texas Road House, The Lodge in Port Byron, just to name some that come to mind. You dont even get a Salad or Vegi. It Is not in my nature to get on here and give reviews, but since this is where I read Reviews and decided to give it a try, because the reviews were decent, I want everyone to give it some thought and have a little heads up for what they are in for. before they go to Tappa's Tiny Bar That Serves overpriced Steak and potatos.

I've been going to Tappa's for many years. By far the best steaks in the QC area. Jan and Cliff are great people. Tough little hole in the wall to find for out of towners but worth the effort.

Tappa's is awesome....wished I had tried it years ago and stayed away from all the "Chain Steak Places". The filet and garlic schrimp are to die for! Waiting in line (if at all) is minimal and even that is made great by the warm hospitality that you are greeted with from Jan! We can be starving and walk out of there in an hour stuffed to beat all! Well worth our drive from Muscatine!
