One of our favorite places to eat in town. The place is always very clean. You can watch all the food as it is being prepared and cooked. I like that I can see the people who are cutting up the fruits/veggies, preparing desserts, etc rather than having them back in a kitchen that I can't tell how clean it is. The food is always tasty. The desserts are great. They have the best fresh fruit I have ever had in a restaurant. Much better than I even buy in the grocery stores. Kids love the place because there is so much for them to try.

My wife and I ate here a few Fridays ago and again had wonderful service. This time, Melissa was our waitress and she was great. Good food from steak to chicken to pork, lots of veggies and side dishes, plus plenty of those melt-in-your-mouth rolls, No complainst at all.

The Davenport Golden Corral is among the best I've ever seen. Sometimes there is a wait (a good problem to have!) for a seat but the servers have gone much more than the extra mile to make our experience a pleasant one. Kudos to Colleen who has waited on us at least twice--never anything but prompt, friendly service. The best thing, in my opinion, is Golden Corral's Veteran's Day meal "on the house" for all veterans, active duty, and so on. As a military retiree, I can attest that most vets don't ask for much. When we receive something like this, it speaks volumes: more than I can say here. We plan to visit here often!

I don't usually get impressed by buffet, and although I've only been to the Golden Corrals in Green Bay, WI and Gurnee, IL, I love this buffet. Usually buffet restaurant food is okay at best, which I suppose is meant to make up for the fact of a wide variety and immediate service, but Golden Corral's food just plain tasted better than all other buffet restaurants I've eaten at. The food is as good or better than a lot of made-to-order sit down restaurants, as if they made it fresh right when you walked in. Actually for most of the food I think they do! :D I just wish I had one in the town I live in. It's really good food!

Let me say this from the start I hate buffet. With that stated lets get into this. Rolling around the QCA with the family doing some shopping on a Saturday, it rapidly became time for dinner. We could not figure out what we wanted. My better half wanted Chinese, yet I was not feeling that at all. She said Buffet, I wanted to instantly vomit. Where to go for buffet was the biggest mystery. As we hooked a left down the road for some reason, that darn commercial for Golden Corral popped into my head. Since we have never been there we were game to try it out. As we pulled into the parking lot, we were surprised that it was full. Great I think to myself all the hogs are at the trough. As we enter the place the first thought I had was that it was cow/hog central. You make your way like cattle to pay the cashier, felt like waiting inline at Disney Land for Big Thunder Mountain. After the really embarrassing moment of my credit card being declined, paying with my debit card we wait for the hostess to lead us to our table. Now I say this in great respect cause they were totally busy, yet my first impression was the place was kind of dirty with crude all over the floor. Yet by the time I got my first plate of grub and wallowed my way back to our table, I looked again around us and they staff cleaned up all the crud. Our server was named Josh who was a really nice guy. With as busy and hectic as the place was, it was a nice change to have a happy non stressed server. For a buffet type place to have a on the spot guy like Josh was really wonderful. This place is really kid friendly, which was awesome since we have a 3 year old daughter. The set up from the salad bar to the meat station to the dessert station was very eye catching. Most buffet type places are not. I did not see the usual food slopped all over the place. I did not see french dressing slopped into the blue cheese dressing. Which says a ton about the staff, cause the hogs were messy all around while they got their food. Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and very few other buffet spots in between serve steak grilled in the open to perfection. I was in wonder that the Golden Corral did. From the steak, ribs, mini steak burgers, all grilled right in the open were really tasty. Now what really blew my mind was the fried fish. 99% of every buffet except most high end buffets like at the Bellagio Casino have horrible greasy fried fish. Golden Corral's fried fish was light and crisp, without the nasty old over fried taste. You put your finer on it and it does not come back greasy. They also served a nice coconut shrimp that did not taste like french fries. Back to our server Josh, not once did my Dr. Pepper get below the half way mark. We did not have to deal was a pile of plates on our table either. I keep my eyes and ears open to what others are saying about the place. Most of my fellow diners in our section, were saying really nice things about Josh. The dessert station had just about all things you could want after stuffing yourself to overload. Watching my two ladies toasting each other with their soft serve ice cream told me it was time to leave. Golden Corral has not changed my view on buffet by a long shot, yet we will be going back again for sure. Total cost for our dinner out was 26 dollars, kids 3 and under eat for free.

I don't know why you are moving the servers around I like my seat but she's not there. She's on the other side, that's okay but what do I have to do walk in & see where she is at? That you John

A place to eat all you want for little money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/05
Golden Corral has always been one of my favorite restaurants. Golden Corral has great food that you can eat with no end. They also have a smoke free atmosphere which is always a plus for me. I have always enjoyed their burgers, pizza, salad bar, and steak. They have almost any food your mind can imagine. They also have a desert bar with cake, cookies, and a build your own sundae. With reasonable pricing and great all you can eat food, you can't go wrong.

A great place to go and eat to your hearts content!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/05
My experiences at Golden Corral have always been good...I wouldnt say its the best place I have ever eaten at, but its a place we go when no one can agree on what to have. Personally I think the best time of day to go there is around 530 PM, the food is consistantly fresh. Dont forget to try their carrot cake! Its delicious! PROS: Good place to go when no one agrees on what to eat. CONS: Off peak times the food isnt the best.
