The decor reminds me of The Cracker Barrel. The waitstaff were very friendly. I was there for breakfast I found the food adequate. Based on the one meal I would say that the decor was more of a draw for ME
We regularly drive from Iowa City to the Quad Cities, the Machine Shed in Davenport just continues to get worse over time. Once the best place to get a steak... we found (to our disbelief) that The Cove restaurant on Interstate 80 has more tender and flavorful steaks than the Machine Shed. The Machine Shed has grown with several locations... unfortunately the quality has only gone downhill. Don't order the chicken... better off to go to Kentucky Fried Chicken and skip the long wait. The Machine Shed has one thing going for it (aside from the great pies)... history and historical value in the region... but I'm sure people know better once they go. If you want Machine Shed - go to Walcott and hit Grandma's Kitchen (owned by the same folks)... its cheaper and the food is better.
We recently stayed at the Quality Inn in Eldridge and the desk cleark referred us to this place as one of her favorite restraunts. We were very impressed!
We loved the service and the amount of food that we were given for the price. Not to mention since we are from the south, we loved how all the food tasted like it was made from our own kitchen.
We wished we had a place like this in Nashville.
Every time we visit Davenport we make sure we have breakfast at the Machine Shed. Without a doubt our favorite item would be their cinnamon rolls - which are as big as a salad plate. But remember to get their early before they run out of them.
