Mabe's Pizza & Restaurant, Decorah

Sort of a cult favorite. We're pizza lovers and after people told us how great this pizza was, we were disappointed. It's just regular mainstream medium crust pizza, better than the franchises but not on a par with independents in other towns, of any crust type. In Decorah, McCaffrey's is certainly better. But Mabe's does grow on you after a while, and it holds fond memories for people who go to college in the area. Don't expect anything gourmet and you'll be happy.

Mabe's Pizza used to be the place to go. We would drive the distance from Maynard to Decorah just for a good thin crust pizza. I might think twice now. We went to Mabe's this past Sunday and ordered what we normally order. The pizza we recieved was lacking in quality. It wasn't up to Mabe's standards. What made matters worse was that the coffee was so watered down, I could actually see the bottom of my cup. The waitress was unattentive and did not respond as she should have. When I went to pay for our meal their were 3 employees at the register. A young man on his cell phone who ignored me, our waitress and another. The waitress waited on me, ran my card, gave a pen and walked away. I have worked with the public for several years and have never treated a customer as poorly as we were treated. Our friends had told us that Mabe's quality of service had changed. They were right. We won't be reccommending Mabe's Pizza!

The BEST pizza you will find in the tri-state area!!! Thin crust,great sauce and the perfect toppings to make it a memorable pizza eating experience. A must stop if you are visiting Decorah!!!

By far - the best pizza in the USA that I have tasted. A thin crust and zesty sauce are the attributes that boost Mabe's to such a superior status. The restaurant atmosphere is boring and outdated, but the pizza by far outweighs this downside and makes the trip well worth it!!! Only a handful of times have I gotten a waiter or waitress that I was displeased with and I have been eating here for years.

I have eaten pizza at thousands of locations, butI still occasionally drive 110 miles for my favorite, MABES MABES MABES,my kids favorite also. I have almost perfected a close copy flavor, but not as GOOOOOOD. !!!!!!

Pizza is too thin and salty. Bring some extra water if you want to eat here.

Mabe's pizza is the best pizza I have ever tasted. My grandma was one of their waitresses in the 1950's. We take special family vacations to get Mabe's Pizza. We've tried all kinds of pizza but never found anything like Mabe's. Tastes really yummy!
