Amazing Italian food! My husband and I came to Dubuque to get away and celebrate our anniversary and we were not disppointed in this place! The service was excellent, the food was great and we loved the atmosphere! The prices were VERY fair and we could recommentd this place to anyone who appreicates fine Italian food:) There is NO where that says UPSCALE at all..this is not a suite and tie type of pleace, but thats what makes it delicious!! This is real home-made Italian...not Olive Garden people. There was nothing wrong with our experience at all...in fact we kept talking about how we couldn't wait until we were able to visit again!!! Might I add that this is NOT upscale prices either what-so-ever!!! We did pay about $35 for the two entrees and an appetizer and I found it to be a VERY fair price!! If you go to the Olive Garden you pay much more than that for processed foods! Don't get me wrong, I love Olive Garden, but this Mario's really impressed us!!!
Mario's has great food, but the last two times I've been there the service has been very poor. It's hard to enjoy yourself when the waitress is grumpy, or when the waiter won't bring any bread (which is included with the meal), and forgets to bring your salad because he's too busy talking to his friends. Like I said, great food but I like good service, that's part of the dining experience.
Mario's is definitely one of my favorite restaurants! It's a nice kind of old style restaurant. The food is amazing - especially the Panzerotti! And you get a feel for Italian culture as Mario greets guests!
