Bland: Nothing great and way over hyped. Steaks are average at best and everything else that I've tried was below average. Service is slow and prices are high. Just not somewhere I enjoy going. Anyone who thinks this is a great steak needs to get out more.
My steak was ok, just ok....it didnt even compare to the filet i had the previous night at Tophers in Sioux Center. We had to wait 90 mins for a table for 2. My steak was not very flavorful or juicy as compared to Tophers. The salad they gave me was a bowl of white iceburg lettuce, this is not a salad...i didnt even eat the salad...salads should be green it was just the poorest looking salad...Will not go back..
I have lived in Le Mars going on 6 years now and had never tried Archie's. For my birthday in January my finace took me there for supper. It was, by far, the best steak I had ever eaten. It was mouthwatering food. I can't wait to go back!!
I love this place. I've been eating here for years and I've never had a bad experience. The service and food is great! The atmosphere is a little outdated, but I don't mind the feeling of nostalgia. I love their grilled chicken-it comes with a ginger sauce that is amazing!
Everyone in the area raves about Archie's - I tried eating there for 10 years. I will not return - my steak had so much tenderizer on it that it was mushy. A bowl of iceburg lettuce does not make a salad. The potatoes are cooked in foil, they are not light and fluffy. Too much money for too little in quality and service. The ambiance is non-existant!
The food is fine, but it doesn;t live up to all of the hype. If you get the Benny (off the menu cut) it will be dry. If the atmosphere were changed to reflect the quality they purport to be serving the experience would be a lot better (get rid of the ceramic houses). They do serve Pabst Blue Ribbon so that saves for 3 stars.
The fattest, juicest, greatest tasting steaks I've ever had. The ambiance is crap though. It's like walking into a cafeteria or an old folks home. It has a real Ma & Pa atmosphere. But despite a lack of the typical steakhouse look and feel, and despite the odd hours of operation, the food is great. If you don't get there when the doors open then you'll be waiting a while for your food, that's because there's usually a bunch of people waiting outside for the doors to be opened and many more poeple sitting in their cars listening to some tunes.
This one is Just Right, food perfectly proportioned, priced right, coctails perfect, staff well trained and very personable, love the food, and atmousphere! Will Highly Recomend to newbies of this city as I am! Kudo's Archie's!!
