Do not recommend this restaurant. Building is old, dirty and smells not good! Wait staff is less than desirable, food qualit has gone down hill BIG time, changed meat vendors, poor quality steak but still cost $28.95. Not worth half that. Salad bar tasted like it had been there for a couple days, pop was flat & I can t describe the dirty feeling of this place, holes in the floor, just YUCK. They need dinner impossible to visit. 3 years ago I would have recommended, not today. Few people here on a Saturday night, so others feel the same!!!!
I love IBS or as it is referred to as in my family as Henry's. I have always loved the steaks there and the owner is a personal family friend. I have never left there hungry and its always nice to see my great-grandfather remembered on the the walls of IBS. If u are ever there behind one of the grills is a farm bureau sign with the name Morris Blum on it that is my great-grandfather. Also on the doorway to enter the bar is a sign that says haverhill which is the town my great grandparnets lived in and owned the only store in just 15 miles south of marshaltown. the atmosphere is great actually taking my great grandma there today for her 93rd bday its one of thoughs places were young and old can go and have a good steak.
Very good steak, cook it yourself and save a buck if you want. Overwise watch them do it to perfection. Large, but not outstanding salad bar. Ambience is family style average, and yet if you want a great Iowa steak in Des Moines, this is one of the top notch places to get it.
Best ribeye ever, every time. If you can tear yourself away from it between bites you'll find the never ending supply of texas toast also top notch. A big salad bar and baked potato are also included in the very reasonable entree price. Great service and atmosphere... I can't wait to get back.
