I made a reservation for the party/private room in Oct. or Nov. of 2010 for a graduation celebration in April 2011. I also called a month ahead and discussed the reservation. I stopped by the restaurant to check out the facility, about two weeks before our party date. And yet with all of this, The Other Place calls me at noon the DAY OF our party and tells me the room was already reserved for someone else. FISHY? I would say. Was this new reservation possibly locals? Or are they just this disorganized about taking reservations? We were accommodated at one long adjoining table in the middle of the restaurant where it was VERY noisy and impossible to talk to anyone except the people directly beside you. The service was ok and the food was ok, but not terrific. We were also not given any kind of a discount for the mistake, which was very obviously theirs, and our group spent over $300.00. Think twice before dining or trusting a reservation at the Other Place in Clear Lake, we had a very happy family event turn into a HUGE disappointment.
While the pizza is good, please consider what DM Diner said about the service. I can also say from first hand experience that is the way things are done at this restaurant, particularly if management is in a bad mood. There is a lack of unity and teamwork among the waitstaff as well as the kitchen staff which contributes to the poor service. If you eat here, be prepared for terrible service 8 times out of 10.
The food was ok but I have never received such poor service. The 1st food hit the table after 2 hours, the rest of the food came out every few minutes over the next 30 minutes, and half of the orders were wrong. When we asked to speak to a manager she told us there was nothing she could do about the wait and the timing of the food and we shouldn't have come in on such a busy night. When we asked about the orders that were wrong she said that if she took them off our bill that the waitress would have to pay for them. We asked to talk to the owner who we knew was there, but were told he would not talk to us. I have eaten and received poor service at many places all over the country, but this by far was the worst experience I have ever had. If you ever have the opportunity to eat out in Clear Lake I would suggest ou take your business somewhere else.
This may not be the best place on earth, nor is it a football stadium or a fancy resteraunt, but its a good place to be. The OP has great food, awesome service, and plenty of entertainment.
Football lovers come here all the time- with over 32 tv's all over the place it isn't hard to catch one of the football games, or basketball games.
It may be a little higer priced then your fast food joint down the street but you get alot of food. They even have an outside grill for people that love steaks and hamburgers and alot of tables for the people that love to eat outside during the summer and fall.
Overall (throughout the years i have eaten there) The OP is a pretty good place to be.
