When JR Sheffer and Heather Ferguson left the University of Iowa in 1993 they had a vision. The vision was to create an eatery with a menu and an atmosphere that carried on a tradition of hospitality, quality and value that you only find at the finest small town restaurants in the Midwest. The best food would be a sampling of the best of the best restaurant items that the JR, Heather and their friends have experienced on and off menus across Americaac2s Heartland. The vision began in Ames Iowa where the students of Dog Town were treated to a new night club called acoeTazzlesac. Tazzles offered discount cocktails and the biggest and loudest dance floor in Cyclone History. Tazzles night club soon partnered up with Winstonac2s and consecutively opened Shamrox and the Deanac2s List. But after running nightclubs in Ames for a better part of the 90ac2s, JR and Heather decided that the Cyclone Nation would do okay with out them and it was time to get their restaurant up and running. In 1999 The Sheffers found out about a little out of the way watering hole that was for sale in Indianola, Iowa. After discovering this little eatery in itac2s prime location, JR and Heather also found a community that made them feel like this was the place that they wanted to raise their family and their vision in.
Great food, great non-smoking atmosphere. Prices are comparable with other sports bar&grill.
Several large t.v's, large bar area, yet very family friendly atmosphere. Good service.
Great place for a casual or business dinner.
My 2 favorites are the prime rib dinner & the zesty ranch burger. So far everything on the menu has been great!
Best food in Indianola, then again Indianola doesn't have a lot to offer. But i would still rank it up there with resturants in Des Moines. The Ceasar Salad is refreshing and the Buffalo Chicken is delicious. Overall i'd say the Sports Page is definatly worth it!
I've been going to Sports Page Bar & Grill for years. The food has always been great and, now that they've moved to a new building, they have plenty of seating. They specialize in sports themed sandwiches and have everything from French Dips to Buffalo wings. The staff has always been courteous and service is very good. Highly recommended for a casual lunch/dinner.
