Chandler's A Restaurant
Chandler's opened it's doors in December of 1999 behind the historical Symons General Store building. It's a cozy place with only 50 seats in the main dining room & 10 seats at the bar. When real estate is too tough to find - it's standing room only! For a change of scenery, guests can enjoy dining in the wine cellar where they are surrounded by the 4,000 bottle collection that serves both the restaurant and Symons General Store. In the warmer months, guests can choose to dine outside, on Chandler's brick courtyard.
The whole dinner for the 6 of us was a disappointment. We were staying in the marina and were told by the staff this was the best restaurant in Petrosky. No so. The basement was so dark we could hardly read the menu. All the items offered were very expensive. There was no soup offered, the waiter had an attitude, the salads were very small for what they cost , and the main entres we selected were tiny and served luke warm to cold. The bus person almost tripped over boxes sitting in the isle between the table and wine racks. We left hungry and went to get ice cream for dessert. All of us agreed we had been ripped off by this restaurant.
Chandler's is the best restaurant in Petosky. Fantastic food, charming atmosphere, the adjacent wine store and general store ad to the charm. If you are looking to have a gourmet meal Petosky style this is the place.
My favorite restaurant in Petoskey! Unpretentious atmosphere. Outstanding food. Great wine list. Young, attractive, intelligent waitstaff. Go there if you understand that dining out should be about the food and not the decor. Go there if you understand that dining out can be about more than filling your stomach. Go there when you feel like having fun and enjoying good local music. Go there if you realize that putting a price on what Chandler's has to offer is a very difficult thing to do. Otherwise, dine at McDonalds!
I believe that Chandler's was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service was awesome, they kept your drinks refilled before you even ran out. They have the best homemade fries that are very crunchy and keep you full. The sandwichs are perfect and they have a veriety. The setting is beautiful if you choose to sit outside. It will make you feel like you are in a tiny bistro down an alleyway in Paris. I give it five stars and would highly recommend eating there.
