My first & only experience with China Inn was awful. The menu was pricey (especially for this hole-in-the-wall), the quarts were only half full, and the food was very bad. I ordered $62.00 worth of take out from China Inn for a small get together with some friends. The food should have reasonably fed the 7 of us. I was so embarrassed when I got home & opened the quarts to find that they were only half full so there was really not enough to serve my guests. I ordered each item by the quart… silly me I expected full quarts... each quart was really (I am not exaggerating) only half full. After apologizing to everyone....... most responded by telling me that it was the worst Chinese food that they had had anyway.. so don't feel too bad. The Lo Mein was tasteless; the Mongolian Beef was mostly vegetables and very little beef (and in the quart it was buried under a pile a dry noodles); the Cashew Chicken … was in a watery broth instead of a sauce; the Egg Drop Soup tasted very processed like it was from a can and it was not good; and the Fried Rice was extremely dry. The Egg Rolls were good but I've had better. If you are wondering.... no I did not contact China Inn about this because I know that I only would have been offered free food as compensation..... which I do not want (they can keep it). I just want others to be aware of my awful experience with China Inn. I (along with 6 others) will not be eating there again. Also I would like to mention that I was not offered any freebies (pop, soup, ect..) for such a sizable order..... I have always received those extras with large orders at other places. They didn't even include any of those little fried chips with the soup. What a joke!!!
My wife and I have tried and tried to find a Chinese restaurant that has a luncheon menu like China Inn. Simply the best. We asked for a special for many years, Szeuhan sauce with our cashew chicken, and they did it every time. Best sauce anywhere and the crab rangoons can't be describe, simply awesome.
I am not a person that 'cheats' on their fave restaurant, but just let me say this: China Inn is the BEST Chinese food I have had the pleasure to eat in Michigan. I grew up with a traditional Chinese nanny and when she came to visit us here she was impressed by the 'fast food' version of her heritage. That says a lot. AMAZING.
I have been eating at China Inn for over 10 years and find that it exceptionally good. I LOVE chinese food, and visit many Chinese establishments, and both the North & South China Inn locations are very good. You won't go away hungry!
I love China Inn North and South! I don't know why anyone would say they don't have good portions, because I always have a lot of leftovers, and I have a good sized appetite! They have the best egg rolls anywhere! I have eaten at a lot of different chinese restaurants, and this is one of the best! Good food, good prices, and good portions!
