One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Terrible service. Food was not fresh made and I would imagine came from some frozen food source. There are plenty of other up scale fresh dining options in the Saugatuck area. Save yourself the money and disappointment. Skip Toulouse.
Elegant--NO! Ambiance: anything but romantic! You just do not ask patrons in semiformal dress to drink their beverage from the bottle. No glass was offered and reluctantly given when requested. The outside termperature was 64 degrees and the air conditioning in the restaurant was going full blast. The food was very good but the service and ambiance were so poor that the meal, served cold incidently, was not enjoyable.
Just had dinner at Restaurant Toulouse. Absolutely wonderful - the food was amazing, the service was friendly and quick, and the ambiance was perfect. The prices were not unreasonable for the quality of food, I would say on the lower price range for restaurants of this quality. Had the escargot, duck and creme brulee, my husband had the scallops and ribeye. The bread and herbed butter was also very good.
I had such an exceptionally good experience that I wanted to commend you and your team. I was in late Monday night, Memorial day. The reservationist was polite and professional in letting us know that late reservation hours were based upon business. I ordered the filet charred and rare, the kitchen did an absolutely perfect job on the special request. As well with the macaroni and cheese, truly delicious. But I have high expectations so that alone would not prompt me to write a note. What was truly over the top was how professional the young lady was that served us. Examples: when approaching the table she would pause for our attention instead of blurting out, “Are you ready to order” like I’ve heard too many times. And, “May I pour you some wine?” instead of going on the assumption. How refreshing. She loves what she does and it shows. Top marks all the way around, thank you.
(I had her name but I’m racking my brain and it escapes me. Sorry. Young, dark hair, just moved to Grand Rapids...)
Worst restaurant in Saugatuck. The servers were rude and slow. The food was undercooked and the decor was terrible. We went on a Saturday night and there were only two other people there (very telling). My husband's (who is 50 mind you) drivers license expired that day and the waiter refused to serve him a glass of wine, and it was HIS BIRTHDAY! I will never go back! There are way too many fabulous places to eat in Saugatuck.
Its a shame to see all the people out there who blame the restaurant because there a different restaurant. They are more of a bistro now to fit the needs of the town. They sell great food at a great price. Everything is made from scratch and is a very good value compared to alot of the other restuarants I wont be back to. Its truley a new hidden gem of Saugatuck. I also love the Jazz they have on the weekends.
I'll be back soon.
