My family picked Chequers Restaurant, because it looked like it would be a nice place to eat. The menu posted outside was priced about the same of the other area restaurants. I put in our name in with the hostess. We were seated in about 45 minutes, as promised. From there everything went south. It took about 8 minutes for the water glasses to arrive to our table. We all felt a certain tension in the air. We waited about 5 more minutes too.The waitress took our order and then we waited. Our water glasses went empty and it was about 10 minutes before we got refills. Another 15 minutes went by and we still didn t have our food. We were thinking of just getting up and going elsewhere. The waitress, must have sensed our uneasiness, as told us our meal would be right up. It took at leat another 15 minutes to get out food. The hamburgers all were cooked well, not medium. The meat had absolutely no flavor! The menu outside stated that the Chequer Burger was to come with bacon on it. Of the three hamburgers at our table not a one had any bacon on it, just mustard, ketchup, and a tomato. The waitress looked frazzled. It appeard the manager was being unkind to her and the rest of his help. All he was doing was walking around looking angry and adding up the tickets. We did not have pleasant time at this restaurant. We felt the waitress was doing her best to make us happy, so we were generous with our tip-- it wasn t her fault. My son-in law order a chicken tender dinner and received 2 pices of chicken. The waitress apologized and ended up not charging him for his meal. She probably got in trouble for this. My son ordered a chicken dinner with rice. It was the most expense meal of the five. He got 2 oz of chicken on top of about a half a cup of rice. The two redeeming factors was the pleasantness of the hostess and the waitress doing her best within an ugly environment. The live music was good, but even that was dIfficult to enjoy with the way everything else went. None of use will return to this restaurant.!
Nothing to write home about. The food wasn't great. The service was sub par. I would save my money and go elsewhere. Perhaps this was a great place at one time but not during my experience. They had the right idea but wrong way of going about it.
Do not eat at this restaurant!!! The food is terrible for the price and I can guarantee they are serving OLD food. The front of the house service is terrible!! I guess they don't know what customer service is anymore! Probably why they are losing $$$!!!
If you're looking for a smaller, cozy place for drinks and/or dinner, Chequers is the place. Atmosphere is great - gorgeous bar. Many many beers on tap. Food is traditional English fare, and is quite good and reasonably priced. The downside to this pub is the flip side of one of it's perks....the smaller cozy space sometimes translates into to a long wait, and there is really not much of a place to sit or stand indoors.
