Was there just after Memorial Day: the place was dirty - don t look at the lights over your table, ugh! - the food was mediocre at best - the owner was less than welcoming. The food was overpriced, even for tourist food.
We went on Memorial Day. The outside staff was slow, tables were dirty, toast was truly burnt black when I got it, 10 minutes after the rest of my food. I gave the waitress twenty dollars for a 14.00 dollar bill, she never returned with change. I had to ask for coffee several times and never received cream we had to go get it from another table. It was gawd awful!!!
A great buffet. Try the green beans and bacon. Pot roast is tender as it gets and d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s. Where else can you get rutabagus. Homemade pies. Fruits of the Forest is yummy, so is the strawberry rubarb. (could use a few more berries and rubarb though). Friendly staff and just good food. Nothing fancy. Menu is cute (onyns for onions) and some backwoods spelling. I wish they'd drop it already. Always back to recharge my country appetite.
I went there during my vacation with my family. The menu is truly basic and everything was centered around some pork product. Our waitress wasn't very informative and slacked off to the point where we decided just not to ever come back. I actually enjoyed alot of local restaurants in the Douglas and Saugatuck area except this one. Bad service + Bad attitude makes me give this restaurant 0 stars if possible.
