We thought we would try this on July 5, 2013. We had my two daughters and we were startving and were trying not to spend a ton of money. The menu looked ok. Sandwiches, mexican, etc. Entrees were $18 and up! My daughter ordered three layer dip. It was canned refried beans in a bowl with melted cheese on top (she left off the guac). My boyfriend had the Portobello mushroom wrap. The write up on the menu made it sound great. The cheese was hard, and it was nothing to write home about. All four of us had waters and it was still $34. We had three layer dip, beef nachos, portobello wrap, and taco plate. Thats all! Very costly, slow service and the food was honestly horrid. My boyfriend felt sick all evening long. I will say the salsa was good, but that s about it. This place tried to make everything seem fancy and nice but when you get your food it looks like diner food which would have cost half the price. I would not recommend this place.
The breakfasts at the Dee Lite are very good, with huge portions. Yes, on weekends you will wait for a table. Once seated the service is good.
My complaint is the prices. 2 people=$23 (with tip), that's a little much for breakfast in my book. This ain't New York City.
I thought the food was just bad. Who grills the inside of a burger bun as if it was the outside of a grilled cheese? You could probably get fast food that tastes better and costs less. I wish I'd picked somewhere else to eat out while visiting Grand Haven.
When ever people are in town I bring them here and we hang out at the Theater Bar portion and it's really busy and the staff is great and everything is just perfect. It's the classy sort of hip place that is a hidden gem in a small town.
Then I ordered the food....
I think 50% of the time I have sent the food back. To put it bluntly, they seen to take liberty with expiration dates and feel that you can solve the problem with additional spices. Also, beware of their sushi. You many want to bring your own ginger.
The waitstaff sections are too large so at busy times expect poor service.
Other than that, it's a great place.
The Dee Lite has a great atmosphere, albeit the bar side (where the live music is) get very crowded on the weekends. Drink prices are more reasonable than neighboring bars that have live music. No band to dance to, and food is average, but you can see some great acoustic talent and have a great martini.
