Old Burdick's Bar & Grill
Old Burdick's Bar & Grill has been a downtown Kalamazoo institution since 1991. Also, there are now three other Old Burdick's locations; At Holiday Inn West, Wings West, and Wings Stadium. All four restaurant locations feature the best sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees, as well as a great selection of cocktails, wines and beers.
The first time I ate at Burdick's I really enjoyed it, prices weren't as high as I had expected and the food was great! However the last 2 time's I've eaten there I've been rather disappointed...at the downtown one our food was wrong then when it came back it was undercooked, so last night some friend and I went to the one in the Holiday Inn, when we got to the hostess both we explained we were meeting some ppl who were already there and that utterly confused the hostesses!!!Don't ask how it was not complicated, anyways we order food and the waitress didn't even know if they had a certain salad dressing or bothered to inform us that there are 2 very different side salads, once that was straightened out and we got our food, mine arrived not the way it says on the menu and another person never got their meal until they had take mine back and remade it then finally her's came out. Needless to say, they must not be training their wait staff well or it's under new management since my previous visit...I'm debating ever going back again.
This was the first restaurant my husband and I dined at once moving to Kalamazoo. I found the food to be slightly underseasoned, but that seems to be a regional thing. I liked the selection and my husband was thrilled that he could get any hamburger as a bean burger. We have been several times and the service has always been great.
Good food, especially the Jerk Chicken. Service is OK and tends to be slow.
For some reason slow service seems to be typical of resturants in Kalamazoo, especially during lunchtime. Places should realize the there is only a limited time for most people for lunch.
The redesign is good. Hopefully the bar will be non-smoking in the future.
Old Burdick's has pretty good food. It is a bit over priced, probably because its part of the Raddison Hotel. I would also like a little more of a selection for entree's. Students get half off on Sundays which is a good deal. Not a bad place, but in my experience, I haven't had the best service either.
5 of us had dinner Sat. Oct. 29th at 8pm. This was Halloween weekend, a Saturday night, and also WMU's Homecoming, so any place would be packed. My friend made reservations ahead of time, and not many places do that especially on a busy Sat. night. The waitress was very friendly and prompt with things. The appetizer came quickly and there was plenty for all of us. We all ordered something different and except for my husband who ate all his salad, we all took leftovers home. There was a wide selection of meals, I had a hard time choosing! We had a non-smoking section that was great and we could even watch the football game!
