It was my first time at this restaurant. When I walked in, I should have turned around and walk out. The carpet was very dirty. The ceiling was falling down. with water stain. I decided to still give it a chance. OMG the service was terrible. The food was also terrible. I have gotten better spaghetti form Fazoli s and much cheaper. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant.
My son is a student at Michigan State University. Every trip to East Lansing must include a visit to Emil's. It is my son's favorite restaurant, ever, anywhere. The food has a wonderful, not to be duplicated, family recipe quality. The staff is friendly yet professional. It is the type of restaurant where you wish you were a regular. Maybe we are, we sure are treated that way.
This used to be a one of my favorite restaurants in the Lansing area. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
The food quality is just so so now (when they have what you want).
The service was terrible. There are a few of the long time waitstaff there who are still very good, but the our waitress was horrible. In fact we saw her making out with one of the kitchen staff outside, in back of the restaurant as we walked in. What a treat to have her walk up to our table to wait on us. Uncomfortable?!
We won't be back, as this was our second attempt to have a positive experience there, thinking the visit before was an off night.
My wife and I ate at Emil's last week. The atmosphere was wonderful.
The service was top notch. Every aspect of our visit was a true delight.
It was our anniversary dinner, and the wait staff made certain that our
experience was special. We chose the lasagna. It was absoutely the most fabulous meal that we have had in a long time. The hot fresh baked bread was terrific! I will recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great experience!
Emil's, keep doing what you do, and we will be returning very soon.
TERRIBLE! I'm half Italian, and folks, this is NOT an Italian restaurant. The veal parmesan was like eating a hockey puck. It was a frozen, processed, minced meat mess! The spaghetti was overcooked and tasteless. The atmosphere was just as lousy. Outdated and dirty. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned or vacuumed in months. Will never go back. Fazoli's has better food than Emil's. And believe me, Fazoli's is awful. Sorry Emil's. You might have been a good place to eat at one time, but not anymore.
I've always loved Emil's. It's one of those cozy little places that doesn't try to be more than it is. However, the past two times I've been there the food was way less than what I'd come to expect. On both occasions the salad went untouched because it was brown and limp. And I'm no food snob here; it looked like it had sat out all night. Also, the alfredo sauce was severely watered down. It didn't even stick to the pasta but rather flowed to the bottom of the dish like a sad little puddle. I don't know if it was just dumb luck to get such abysmal food twice but what it felt like was a restaurant balancing declining profit against the quality of its ingredients. We're going to give it one more shot because for years it was our favorite Italian restaurant in Lansing but there's going to be a limit to our patience. Sorry, had to give two stars this time.
My husband and I dined at Emil's while in the Lansing area and would definitely return. Our server, Brenda, was a delight and very helpful. And, the food, was the best we have had....the sauce, the bread you could tell was homemade. You get a lot of quality food at reasonable prices.
