Not too happy with the service... Was there for 20 minutes didnt get a hello or even acknoledged but seen us come in. 5 minutes after we were there another couple came in got service and we finally just left. Its understandable about being busy but for someone to get service before us and still having to wait was rediculous. We enjoy goibg there because tge prices are reasonable, the food is wobderful and filling and the service makes you feel great but after today we are really disappointed especially being locals!!!
We ate here tonight for the first time after hearing about it from a few different people while waiting in line at another restaurant. It took us about 15 minutes to drive there from East Tawas. We got there about 7:30 on a Saturday and they had 2 tables available. It s not a big place or fancy but the food was delicious and the service was fast. I ordered their prime rib burger with grilled onions and mushrooms with homemade horseradish on a kaiser bun. It came with pickles and chips. My sister ordered one of the daily specials which was whitefish broiled with lemon butter. She got to choose between a salad or soup and she choose a salad and then you have your choice of potato. She choose the sweet potato casserole. My soon ordered the fried perch and he got cajun seafood soup and hash browns. A bread basket came with our meals. in the basket were yummy buttermilk biscuits, cornbread and sofst breadsticks. (all homemade) They are know for the fabulous desserts that the owner bakes herself. They have about 30 desserts to choose from daily. We ordered a piece of peanut butter pie, raspberry cream pie and a piece of hummingbird cake. Each piece was huge and the price was right. Between $3 and $3.50 each. You could split a peice with someone, but who would want to do that? LOL We will defiantly be going back very soon. We got excellent hospitality from the owners and my son commented on how much he enjoyed the cajun seafood soup that the owner brought him out a bowl to take home. We are so glad that we stumbled onto this gem!
Can't say enough about Chef's Table. Was sent there about 12 years ago by friends. Been hooked ever since! I keep waiting for the owner to write that cookbook, since I'm sick of trying to make her Raspberry pie!! The waitress's are wonderful and the food is homecookin!! You need to just try it once and you will return !!
Their food is THE best! The place is pretty small and not too fancy, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. The portions are large, the food is superb, and the homemade desserts are THE best. (The chocolate-coconut pie is outstanding!)
It's worth the drive to the Chef's Table!
