While at a wedding reception, I dropped my personal daily planner. Four days of frantic searching later, I thought to call the hotel. They did indeed have my planner and told me they would certainly mail it to me after I gave them my credit
card numer. I was very annoyed to say the least!! First, why didn't they call me - my name and number are on the very first page of the planner, and secondly they couldn't throw it in the mail? Excellent customer service Doherty Hotel -- not so much!!
While the visit with my friend who I hadn't seen in 20 yrs was fabulous, the ice in the parking lot put me flat on my back. The 2 barking dogs in the next room were a bit much. Barking ALL day(where were the owners?).Not shoveling the sidewalks until 1:30 in the afternoon? Really? And the pool area being used for a conference room? Did you overbook AND overlook a few of the basics? Customer service!!!!! Not here.
This is a review of the restaurant and not the hotel part. Went for Christmas dinner, service was good but the food is over priced, and of poor quality. Will never go back. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The management needs to look at the problems.
Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Doherty and couldn't be more pleased. My room was very clean and quiet. There was ample parking. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'm in the area a few times a year on pleasure, and I now have a new favorite place to stay.
We have stayed here many times over the last five years. And it has to be the best hotel in the area. It has a great pool, very nice clean rooms, and the best restaurant. The hotel is family owned and operated, and they do a great job. There new years party package is the best we have been to in a long long time, great food, music and not crowded like all hall parties.
When I was growing up in Clare The Doherty Hotel was a dining destination for the midwest. In the 50's it boasted a five star chef who left to go to the Four Seasons in New York, celebrity clientele and a staff of waitress trained by the best, Ms. Edna Meachum. I was serenaded on my sixth birthday in the hotel by Ernest Tubbs and Minnie Pearl. Today it is a shadow of its former self. What a shame.
The customer service in this place was outstanding. I thought that the hotel itself could have offered a few more amenities due to the price. However the service in and of itself was well worth what I paid. There was a dishwasher named Jeremy who really provided us with a wonderful experience. He surely went that extra mile to please the guest and it wasnt even his job to do. Thank a lot Doherty hotel and Jeremy.
