Had made a reservation for 8:30pm called a week before to confirm because we were coming from a formal event and had to be back home by 11:00pm for the babysitter. When we got there at 8:22pm they said they were running behind it should be twenty minutes the lobby was packed and they still were seating 8:00pm walk-in's. I had asked are you sure just twenty because if so we would wait he said he could not guarantee me that. Then a guy in the lobby said he told them the samething and they have been waiting over forty. We left and went to Morton's which is twenty minute drive we told had told them that we needed to be home and what happen and they got us in and out and we had a great meal. It seemed like lelli's didn't care when talking to them last night but I guess when you busy what does one customer matter
I took my wife and kids out for a trial run to see how the service was before a business brunch. The service was good and the food was great. I did have the business brunch at Lelli's and the waitress remembered us. My client was under the impression that we ate there often. They could improve with some live music and a greeter that pulled the chairs for the client. Over all I will try it again. Augies Facility Management Group
I am sad to see the poor reviews. Lelli's has always had amazing food and lots of it! The service is pretty old school - no, you are not going to be fawned over like you are at Morton's, but the food is truly worth standing at the podium for a while. I have been going to Lelli's (first downtown) and now Auburn Hills for 40 years and have never had even a mediocre meal - always delicious.
A week ago, my assistant made a dinner reservation for our small family of four for 7:30pm last night. We arrived a few minutes early and were told that our table would be ready in fifteen minutes. We were kept standing near the podium in the freezing cold since the outer doors remained propped open and then were engulfed in the rush of your other guests who also appeared to have reservations! A full hour and ten minutes passed with us getting elbowed and pushed around by the crowds before we finally got seated, without even an apology!!
We waited for some water and dishes/ silverware etc at our bare table for another fifteen minutes and finally caught the busboy’s attention! Next another wait to order food and then being informed that there is no bread available for the last 8 tables and that would be a wait as well!! Finally when the bread arrived, it was stone cold (clearly had been sitting somewhere for a while) and later it was replaced with warm bread that we picked up only to discover the bottoms were burnt! We had long waits even for our salads and refills on the water with empty glasses. Being a holiday, I did not wish to make a scene so we sat there waiting almost 45 minutes after the pasta was served for our main course, ignoring everyone’s request at our table to just go home! Finally the main course arrived with the most chewy cold steaks I have ever had and the lobster tail stone cold as well. The other members of the family had a similar experience with their dishes! I had to leave my steak half finished and was relieved to finally get away from there, after a full three hours and twenty minutes of humiliating experience!
Noisy, expensive and crowded. NOTHING like the original building. Has all of the ambience of Grand Central Station. Nothing quite like having to yell to your other guests. I have eaten in quieter airports. Food quality is no-where near as good as the old place. Big disapointment. There are better choices nearby at 1/2 cost of this place.
old tradition in detroit, thats surviving on its past rep.....this food isnt even good, yes the steak is tender, but it has no flavor, lobster was frozen, soup was just ok, and served cold....cant say ot was good, cant say ot was bad...it was just bland and not special at all...big disapointment
We go at least three times a year from Midland. It is over a 100 mile trip but worth it. Started going in 1952 at the Woodward Ave. location. In the last two years we have noticed a difference. Wait staff not as professional. food not quite up to par as the downtown one use to be. I think because it is now too big. We will continue going until we are too disappointed in food and service. We always get the filet. The price is steep.
