Bring two great things together and you get an even greater combination. Welcome to OSLO...a pioneer in the field of making great combination, bringing the best in food and music to the heart of detroit. Sushi and electronic music have always seemed to go hand, and OSLO broke onto the scene in april 2004 rolling out the best sushi and electronic music detroit had to offer. after a brief hiatus, OSLO re-opend in late 2007 under the watch full eye of new Owner/Chef Lumpai Rossbach with an expanded menu including authentic Thai cuisine and the same great sushi, now beautiful prepared by chef John Riney.
I loved the experience as a whole. The ambiance, the sounds, the music, the wine, the people, it brought back some kind of feeling for me that i haven't had in a long time. It was cozy. The wait seemed a lot shorter than we'd been told, showed up at about 8:45 & got seated no more than a half hour to 40 minutes later. I was not entirly impressed with the service, but the food was good and laughter abundant. i would recommend this to a younger crowd, i could see it getting wild in the late hours.
Sushi was creative and tastey. Space was the problem here. The dining area is cramped when the restaurant's full. Service was, uh, not pleasant or friendly, just... there. Club in basement is good for dancing after. Recommended, as this is the only sushi place in downtown that I know of.
Oslo is exellent in every way. The service was good the atmosphere is good...very cozy and laid back. The drinks are good...
I went with my husband after reading about it in the MetroTimes. I was not disappointed and you will not be either.
Must try the tempura and the eel!
