Pizzapapalis Taverna, Detroit

when my wife and i went there the pizza took well over an hour and we couldn't get any refills on our drinks. the pizza was okay but not worth the 30 dollars for a large, 2 buds and a long wait.

If you can put heaven on a pizza, this is it! It's the Roll Royce of pizza! If I didn't have no money I'll rob a bank just to get a taste of this pizza!! It's that additive!! Pizza Papalis also put the "C" in consisted. This pizza is 3 to 4 inches deep (maybe more) of pure goodness and if deep dish ain't your thing, then try the thin crust pizza, it has a thin crispy but delicate crust drizzle with olive oil, yes olive oil, and your choice of fresh toppings. I visit Chicago (where deep dish pizza were invented) quite often and ate plenty of their pizza, I have to say Detroit's Pizza Papalis rank is right there with the best of Windy City's pizzeria.

I love the meat lovers pizza. The taste kind of fell off a lil bit since they started having all those franchises, but this is the best pizza in detroits....forget about that green latern crap, or anything else, pizza papalis is the shiznat. How good is the meat lovers pizza? Im lactose intolerant, and I'm messed up the next day after eating this, but it is WORTH IT...If you come to detroits, and don't eat Pizza Papalis, you haven't tried detroits best pizza

Who in their right minds would accept anything else besides Pizza Papalis as their number one choice for the most robust and filling deep dish pies? Surprising enough, there are a few morons out there... but I bet that they have never had the privilage to sample such a heavenly thing! I always opt for the seafood deep dish which includes WHOLE shrimp and not chopped bits of shrimp. The meatlovers is my second choice because the meat comes in chunks and not little balls or slices. The price is on the high side, but this is the one thing that is more than true to the statement, "You get what you pay for." Why? Because it's rare when a normal person can eat more than just 2 slices of the SMALL deep dish (I'm not even gonna mention the large or medium.. well, I guess I just did...). You can dine in at this location or order out if you are in the downtown area. The atmosphere is really cozy in the restaurant and the staff are on point although it takes almost an hour for your pie to come after ordering, but believe me, it's worth the wait.

Very simply - can't be beat! It is sooooooooooo worth the wait. And the casino is right across the street! It is worth the drive also. And, it is worth the calories

Pizzapapalis has some of the best pizza I've ever had. Their breadsticks are amazing and their service is phenomenal. You can even watch them make the pizza! The prices are quite decent, too. Don't forget to ask for some extra napkins because this pizza makes one delicious mess!

This is the best pizza in town. It's like a Chicago stuffed pizza only better. You need plenty of time to eat as each pizza takes about an hour to bake. A bit more expensive than your average pizza, but so worth it. I recommend the seafood or spinach pizza - you won't be sorry.

I love there deep dish pizza so much that I would go back to the greektown area just to get one(I live 30 min.south of Cleveland so that's about 3 hours drive). They'll deliver a pizza half cooked and frozen via UPS I believe, so that's how I'll try it next. The service was almost as good as the pizza. I can't think of anything negative to say about Papalis.
