Fishbone's Rhythm Kitchen Cafe

Description

Greektown's revival was symbolized by the opening of this lively Cajun food-and-jazz emporium. On the same premises as the Atheneum Suites Hotel, Fishbone's is wildly popular, and celebrities such as Aretha Franklin often drop by. The authentic food includes Cajun catfish, snapper, crawfish, alligator and caviar shipped directly from Louisiana. Live New Orleans-style jazz is a nightly feature and the popular Sunday brunch also includes live jazz. Loud, happy and soulful, Fishbone's features dirty rice, jambalaya, whiskey chicken and ribs, and a brassy, sassy atmosphere. Spin-off Fishbone's have opened in Southfield (at 29244 Northwestern Highway) and St. Clair Shores (23722 Jefferson).

i liked everything i tried but it was quite expensive, but a really nice place it is located right next to the Casino and you can get to it easy by the people mover.

Ordinary, won't be back for a while
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/07
Our service was great, and the best thing about the meal was the raw oysters. Not much of a testament to their cooking ability. I ordered the shrimp creole and my boyfriend (a Louisiana native) got the andouille with beans and rice. I had to go online and to learn what made the shrimp so mushy-- my experience with overcooked seafood is that it usually gets tough, but I learned that the mush factor is probably from overcooking by boiling in the shell. Flavors were all right but overcooked seafood is a huge no-no. I could have done a better job myself even with frozen shrimp...if we go back I will probably stick to the raw stuff (they do have sushi).

Over-rated !!
By DAVID, 6/6/07
Hard to describe how bad a dining experience this was. This restaurant cannot compare favourably with even the national chains such as Outback and Lone Star. Their much vaunted entertainment was a street drifter playing sax on the pavement outside! Probably stays in existence because of the local sporting venues, Joe Louis Arena, Ford Field and Comamerica Park and also the Greektown Casino.

Fishbone's got what you want....
By Captain Chaos, 12/6/06
Casual dining with a formal ambiance. Large selection of seafood items on the menu. I however, had the half rib/half chicken. They even do their non-seafood items ecquisitely. Check out the beautiful 7 story waterfall located within the restaurant. Would recommend it over and over.

Not a good experience
By scott simmons, 8/28/06
We arrived at the restaurant at 2:00pm for lunch before we attended a 4:30pm concert at Ford field. We placed our drink order at 2:30 and our food order was placed at 3:00pm. We didn't have any food at our table by 4:00pm. I had to search out a manager to inform them that we were leaving and would not be paying for the food. The service was terrible. Waiter/waitresses were slow. Our waitress informed us they had no idea that a concert was being performed at Ford Field that day and therefore were short-staffed. That is inexcusable! I do not recommend this restaurant at all. The manager never apologized for our troubles and wasted time. Hope this helps when you plan to go downtown.
