Description

When this once-obscure hole-in-the-wall expanded from a bar and pool room to a big restaurant, it marked the revival of the western portion of Mexicantown. Now Xochimilco is so popular that crowds regularly fill its three dining rooms on the first floor and crowd into second-floor cubicles. Plenty of competitors have opened their doors, but Xochimilco is still the top spot for its dependability. The formula is simple: generous portions of Mexican staples, including tasty guacamole and gargantuan burritos. The price has remained affordable, and people keep coming nightly until 2a for drinks and munchies.

Flavorful and reasonably priced. Agree this is a bit dank and dark - but so are most good holes in the wall. Hello, you are in Mexican town... Great fresh chips and salsa. Chimichangas were excellent and the steak fajitas were tendor and full of flavor. Too bad they don't serve homemade tortillas, but the trimmings and all the dishes we tried were very good. Bring a flashlight to help read the menu, though!

The cleanliness of this place is sketchy. Dark & dusty. The food was mediocre. HOwever, the salsa was spicy and that is why i give it a 3.

what a filthy dump.the bathrooms are to small and filthy.the whole place is to old never been upgraded.the place is dark smelly and no music.yes the food is good.but what did they do with all the moneY they must be making! CLEAN IT UP! steve.

Food portions are large for price. Skirt steak was great - highly recommend. Service was good - friendly - and fast. Very noisy (Sunday holiday) atmosphere. Upkeep is below par - ripped seat cushions, very rough restrooms, older carpet. I'd return but only if it was convenient - I wouldn't drive far for this destination.

I wouldn't put Xochis in the top 5 in Mexican Town,let alone Detroit. Try some of the others in the same area

We always enjoy Xochimilco's good food, quick, friendly service. It's always very busy, but worth the wait. The resturand is located conveniently near the expressway. We make a point of taking our family to Mexican Town Xochimilco's very often!

This is truly the best authentic Mexican food in Detroit, or Michigan as far as I'm concerned. Everything on the menu is good. Their chips are fresh made, the salsa is absolutely tantalizing. If you want good Mexican food, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is wonderful, the smells are enticing, the staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Try it, you'll go back for more!
