we were here last week for a birthday dinner and an anniversary dinner. I ordered the shrimp faitas the shrimp were so small like the tip of your baby finger or the kind you find in a can. The rest was grilled veg had to send it back. The other person in the party when their order came the food was still ice cold and the bottom of the plate was real cold( I think the food is frozen) The people across from us found glass chipped pieces in their beer. No more carls for us. When I ordered the combo to replace the faitias it was nothing but lettuce.
Carl's has the best chips and salsa anywhere. I have been there many times over the years and it continues to get better each time. Everyone I know loves the monster burrito. If you have not been there lately, you need to go.
I when to carls this week and ordered there number one. It came with almost no cheese on it or the taco so i asked them for more cheese and my husband had to ask for more gravy on his. The food was only so so and they charged us for the cheese and gravy which should have been on our food to start with. A 1.50 is high for a few little pieces of cheese and i could not believe that they had the gall to charge for something the cook should have put on in the first place. I may never go back. Also i see people that talk about the kitchen had doubts about that myself.
I do have to admit, i didnt care for carls the few times i have been there...but the last couple times i have lol.
The huge burrito is very good and their salsa seems to be much better than before! I would go back!!
The waitresses try so hard, but there is always something gross about a meal at Carl's. They have had their three strikes and they are out. Instead, go to Muy Loco near Cabela's in Dundee. Much better food for the price. Ask for Nicole and she will take great care of you!
Not much competition though. I think it is only one of two restaurants. Don't order any pop, because the taste is bad because the water they use is unfiltered. Monster burrito is a trademark item, but still not quite authentic.
