I went there with a small group for my birthday and was very pleased. I even got a free slice of cake. I didn t experience any of the negative reviews that I read about. The floor seemed clean, food was great, service was excellent.
Everyone in my group ordered something different, so we got to sample a wide variety of dishes.
The Schnitzel Victoria was a small serving but delicious, Personally I thought it was the best dish of the night.
Among others I tried were the Jaeger Schnitzel, Beef De La Mode, Black Forest chicken (which I thought was the biggest serving) and Frog Legs (I thought were a bit dry).
I wasn t a huge fan of the red cabbage, It was to much vinegar for me, but the Portabella Mushroom Soup and Mashed Potatoes were to die for!
I ll be posting this on multiple sites.
TRAVELERS BEWARE! We are staying in the Allen Park area to visit Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. I researched online reviews of area restaurants to find a place to take my family for a nice dinner. The positive reviews for Richter's Chalet did not represent the awful dining experience we had there. The atmosphere is terrible, made worse by the fact that one room had no air conditioning and the other was freezing cold, so we had to choose if we wanted to sweat or shiver. When I ordered, not only did they not have the menu item I ordered, the waitress went on to list FIVE menu items that weren't available. Ridiculous, even more so because this was not mentioned before we reviewed the menu. I could write a book on what was wrong with this place. Flies all around our table, one of two restrooms out of commission, it was a dark, old and dying establishment. The capper was how sick to our stomachs we all felt 30 minutes after the meal. For this we had to pay $57? Don't make the same mistake we did. Please note, Yahoo Local won't accept my one-star rating for some reason. I would give it ZERO stars if al
We've been going to Richter's for about 40 years and have NEVER been disappointed with the food. Great German dishes - I especially recommend the Beef ala Deutsch (not available every day) and the Rindsroulade. Save room for dessert - the pastries and cakes are among the best you will ever eat. You can order their wonderful tortes for special occasions, too! Servers are long time employees and very friendly.
Great atmosphere, very friendly service, and an authentic feel. Richter's is a great place to enjoy home cooking and relax in a family environment. The building, tables, and plates just make you feel at home and so does the food. The interior of the restaurant makes you feel like you're eating in an old German lady's basement, (which is surprisingly comforting). The place is pretty affordable and you get a lot for your money. My girlfriend and I ate for $40, (appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert). Not to mention, they bring you unlimited homemade pretzel bread and these crackers with some kind of German Cheeze-whiz; Sounds gross, but it is good, trust me. We actually bought a pint of the cheese stuff to take home and enjoy later. In any case, I would check it out if you're in to the usual German food - sauerkraut, breaded chicken with stuffing, red cabbage, etc...All in all, I was impressed and would recommend it.
I've been going here since I was a kid. In all those years I've had maybe one or two problems, but nothing recently. You get lots of food and I love the cheese and crackers you get at dinner. The bread is really good too, and they finally got their liquor license so they have beer! I don't eat veal, but I hear the wienerschnitzel is out of this world. The Chef special, though expensive is good, as are all the desserts.
Absolutely loved everything we tried here.... My Mom is from Germany, and I and my family loved the food here... We would suggest to anyone to go here to eat.Great Food, Very Polite Service, Great Prices.
we will be going back again, very clean place too
Richter’s excels in value. The food is freshly prepared on-site by caring hands, served by friendly staff. They began serving beer & wine in late 2006. Mr. Richter’s an award winning pastry chef, so save room for dessert! Why drive downtown and deal with traffic and parking headaches when we've got a gem right here? If you like eating in cookie cutter restaurants, don’t come here! Leave this little treasure for the rest of us who can truly appreciate it.
The food was perfect, the atmosphere also perfect. The waitress was a bit too opinionated(told me I wouldnt like what I ordered),but she was wrong!!! She was just having a bad day. We enjoyed the pictures in the hallway on the way out. A great evening!
