Fleetwood Diner

A little tipsy on a Friday evening or just looking for an early breakfast this place is it hands down. The quintessential diner and the hippie hash is probably on my top ten list of best things I've ever tasted!

If you are looking for a quaint place that offers a variety of inexpensive meals then Fleetwood Diner is the place for you. Nestled in downtown Ann Arbor, Fleetwood is a picturesque trucker's hole in the wall showcasing a variety of friendly, yet uniquely interesting characters and cuisine (checkout their signature "hippie hash" entree). It is perfect for anyone eating out on a tight budget (and for people watching too).

This place is about as real as it gets. You never know what you'll see at the Fleetwood! Everyone has eaten there at one point or another! College students, cops, hippies, lawyers, you name it! Typical diner menu, large portions, fair prices. I particularly like the Hippie Hash(veggies, feta over hash browns). It's open 24 hours, the building isn't pretty by any means, but I find that part of the appeal...

Actually...I think it's the best restaurant in Ann Arbor. Real hole-in-the-wall ambience. Open 24 hours. Very eccentric staff and clientele. Good food. I particularly recommend the corn beef hash...this is the only place I've ever seen that doesn't serve the stuff from a can, but makes it from scratch by combining chipped corned beef with hash browns. Absolutely delicious. Watching the waitress deal with the drunks on a Friday or Saturday night is also fun.

You never know what you're going to see here, and that makes it about as authentic as you can get in Ann Arbor. The food is good, hearty breakfast type fare, with some creative touches like the trademark 'hippy hash' - feta and veggies over hash browns. The prices can't be beat.
