We had heard good things about this place and gave it a try yesterday (before doing a little Father's Day shopping--) fully prepared to stand in line to get in but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated immediately -- we ordered-- were given coffee-- talked-- refill-- talked some more-- another refill-- the place was emptying-- people around us (who came in later) ordered-- ate and left--
on the FOURTH refill we asked our waitress if something was wrong--
for some unknown reason she told us our slip kept being moved to the bottom of the orders-- and then said we should probably go someplace else because it would be an even longer wait for our order (which consisted of a burger, scrambled eggs, and eggs benedict-- let me assure you-- I have worked in the restaurant and bar business for many years, and fully understand the work involved serving a holiday/sunday morning crowd-- there was nothing special or difficult about our order-- we were not rude-- nor did we smell bad or were we dressed funny-- we were told we wouldnt have to pay for our coffee and that was it.
Maybe we should have asked for a manager but we didn't. We just left not believing what just happened-- we'd just spent over an hour and bascically been told to find someplace else if we wanted to eat-- at that point we were all hungry-- disappointed and angry-- decided to forgo our Ann Arbor shopping trip and headed North to shop and eat-- this was the WORST restaurant experience I've ever had-- (I understand how these things can happen-- a visit from a manager or at least SOME kind of excuse/apologywould have helped)-- I will only recommend this place to people I don't much like-- for the rest of the world: unless you're a gambler pack a lunch, bring a book, or better yet find a McDonalds if you want to get something to eat before old age or death overtakes you.
Maybe a better name for this place would be THE ROTTEN EGG.
McDonalds serves a bad breakfast, but it is still edible. My eggs benedict was inedible. I do not remember going out to eat and not being able to eat my food. The hollandaise sauce tasted like mustard, nothing else. I was hungry, and I love good eggs benedict, they just made very horribly. Half the potatoes were edible, the other half were too hard to chew. My wife’s meal, a burger and fries, should also not be served here. I know eggs benedict is hard to make, but I feel if you can’t make it right, take it off the menu. Please do not give me the chance to order this bad food.
A nice selection of sweet and savory breakfasts. Some dishes are better than others but overall of good quality. I like their pancakes in particular. Good prices, decent service and a cute environment, it's nice for a lazy Saturday or Sunday.
This place is marvelous!!
They have a neverending menu of creative breakfast choices, you could go back for weeks and never have the same thing twice.
They use delicious fresh ingredients and have yet to let me down.
I could say anything better about the Broken Egg.
**Except like somebody said below, best to go a bit early to avoid the crowds.
