We were so looking forward to going to the Chop House, three out of four ordered filet I told the waitress twice to make sure it is WELL done and the two others were to be cooked mdium. Mine comes med. rare and theirs comes rare. I send mine back and comes back rare again. A third time they finally get it and I proceed to eat my meal after eeryone else is done. The boys just ending up eating theirs, since everyone was hungry and they couldnt get orders right anyways. Portions are EXTREMELY small. The manager never offered to send a drink over or do any kind of adjustment. They should focus more on the food, service was good. This was such a let down for all of us. I feel LaBistecca truly out shines them .
The Best place for an anniversary, birthday, or just a night out on the town! The best service I have ever experienced~ all plates hit the table at once! Every time I needed anything my server was there, any question answered.
The best steak I have had ANYWHERE was the Kobe steak which I am still raving about to all my friends. Don't fill up too much as La Dolce is the only place I know of for a dessert and a CIGAR. LOVE this place and will be back very soon!
Stopped by on my way home for a bourbon and cigar. Cool lounge area and great cigar but the drink menu is just way overpriced. I think I payed like $7 for my Newcastle, that is just too much. Service is good but the place is usually overfilled and it is impossible to have a quiet conversation.
Very expensive, but the food and service certainly lived up to it.
I tried the fillet mignon (which was properly and deliciously aged for about 30 days). It was among the best I have ever eaten and melted like butter. I savored every bite and was nearly driven to tears when I finished. My date tried the sea scallops and compared them favorably to east coast fare.
Afterward we had cappuccino, chocolate gelato and a type of chocolate cake. They were all served in modest proportions of the highest quality.
This is a FABULOUS, fine dining restaurant! I would highly recommend it to anyone!
We were looking for a fun, mid-week getaway in the Midwest. After deciding on Ann Arbor (had never visited), we planned a special evening that included a concert at The Ark Theater. We also wanted to treat ourselves to dinner at a great restaurant, hopefully located near the venue. We chose The Chop House.
We made our restaurant reservations online a few days before leaving and were set to go. As we headed to Michigan, what would normally have been a short road trip became a 7 hour trek! Due to accident delays/reroutes and poor weather conditions, we ended up having to reschedule our dinner reservations twice! We were embarrassed about the changes, but the restaurant’s reservation service and the restaurant staff themselves were incredibly accommodating. This level of professionalism set the tone for what was to follow.
When we finally made it to The Chop House, the host was extremely gracious and took us to a cozy table. We were then greeted by our server who was amazing! He and his assistants were aware we were under time constraints and needed to get to the show soon. Our server promised us a wonderful meal that would be presented in a timely fashion and he delivered! From the diver scallop appetizer which was heavenly, to the cooked to perfection cowboy steak and filet, everything was flawless! Our server not only wrapped things up on time, he went above and beyond the call of duty! Not realizing we already had tickets, he took it upon himself to go outside in the FREEZING cold to check the theater line, wanting to make sure we would be able to get in it before it became too long! He even offered to keep our to-go boxes in the frig so we could pick them up after the show! Everything was ready for us, as promised, when the event was over.
After a harrowing and difficult journey to reach our destination, the outstanding dining experience we had at The Chop House played a huge role in making our first trip to Ann Arbor, one of the best getaways we’ve had.
Bravo Chop House and Thank You.
This is for La Dolce Vita, their dessert place.
Be extremely careful when you are trying to make reservations. I had made reservations for my birthday, specifying I had wanted only dessert. They had told me if my party dropped under a certain number that I would be charged $250. What the DIDN'T tell me was that there was an additional charge of $200 for only having a dessert. Luckily I had read this on another review online. When I called to ask them if they had this policy the woman pretended not to understand my question. Once I couldn't make my question any more clear, she said that they do charge for only dessert, even though it is a dessert place.
So next time you make reservations be very very very careful.
