We absolutely loved our first time at the Gandy Dancer. They treated us as if we were royalty. The food was great and the service the best! Granted, the menu is a bit pricey, but we will return. Well worth it.
I just can't believe that all the 1 star review are reliable! we had the complete opposite impression: the food and the service are the best in Ann Arbor, and since we came from LA and we know a thing or two about restaurants - Gandy Dancer is a GOOD one!
The tables are too close to each other, the filet had turned and I got food poisoning! The manager Erin was rude to us and appeared intoxicated. We will never return! The quality of food is comparable to a Joe's Crab Shack.
For what they do to parties at graduation time, the owners of the Gandy Dancer should be imprisoned. They pack the restaurant to its limits, even going so far as to bring in outdoor tents to accomodate more diners. Because they're so busy, the service is slow, and the quality of the food is terrible. At my sister's graduation, more than half of our party of 14 sent their meals back because they were too cold (and this wasn't a group of picky eaters). Given the money they charge, their operation at grad time is nothing less than highway robbery.
Awesome Sunday Brunch! Great atmosphere! I was surprised to read one of the other reviews that said that vegetarians couldn't find anything to eat. I'm a vegetarian andhave found the staff to be more than accomodating to my diet- omitting meat from entrees or making something especially for me. Not only that, but every time I've had them omit meat from a dish, they always charge me less for it- without having to ask.
Overrated and overpriced. The service was merely okay, the food was merely okay. Also, it seemed like it was hard for vegetarians in the party to find things to eat. This is Ann Arbor, after all, so they must get vegetarians in there fairly regularly.
Nice location, though.
We have been there several times. The train never fails to pass by while we are enjoying our dinner. This is a place that allows people to dress up or go casual. Service is excellent, the cuisine is the best. Can't say anything bad about the Gandy Dancer.
The moment I walked into Gandy Dancer, I was immediately smitten. It was intimate and classy...very romantic. They have a very good selection of seafood - lots of fish choices. I had the Macadamia encrusted Mahi. OH MY..it was a generous serving and it was encrusted to perfection!
I'm really looking forward to trying the buffet brunch now that I know the food (esp seafood) here is fantastic.
The finest restaurant in A squared. The seafood is always fresh, the beef aged and the salads are the best.
AA has many dining places that are very good, but for the special occasion that deserves the best of class, definitely make reservations at the Gandy Dancer. You will not be disappointed.
