The food at the Lotus Pond is the best on the Eastside the LoMein is the BEST any way you have it, but try it with the fried rice that matches the meat instead of just white rice !
The cultural elite should eat elsewhere this is a famaily establishment and eating with the family from the kitchen has become a part of the experience. All of us have had relatives that had problems with english at some point, obviously they did not send your ancesters back to the old country. If this bothers you go to an american restaurant with kids that are more intrested in themselves that the customers. Thank you Lotus Pond for making us feel a part of the family when we dine with you.
I've seen pizza being delivered to other restaurants because the workers would not eat their own cooking, I don't eat at these rertaurants anymore.
My wife and I ate here many years ago, the food wasnt to bad, but half way thru our meal all the kichen help came out and sat in the middle of the resurant and ate, or should I say competed in a slurp fest, it was like they havent ate in a week and had 5 minutes to eat before going back to work, all the customers had the facial expression as if we were watching the Exorcist movie in 3-d, havent back since.
I wasn't impressed with this place. The service was extremely slow, and our waitress was difficult to communicate with. The wonton soup was heavy on veggies, but came out of the kitchen barely warm. We ordered two appetizers and only received one, and our drink orders(tea for 3 and 1 coke) came after the soup. The one shining star was the crab rangoon app. which was perfect. The sweet and sour chicken was pretty good, but the General Tso's chicken seemed like it was poured from a can. The chicken wasn't breaded, and it was served without brocolli or any other vegetable. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who wasn't within walking distance.
I had dinner with seven friends on March 20, 2009. The service was TERRIBLE!!!! HUGE language barrier and giant cultural divide. The waitress could not understand our orders, had made a few mistakes, and she became hostile with us when we tried to reconcile those errors. This made all of us very uncomfortable to say the least. Not to be an arrogant American, but this is Warren, Michigan not Far East China. I expect good service. The food is so so. There are so many other chinese restaurants that have the same fare or better without the abuse or hostility. I saw a lot of carry out orders, I wonder why? Probably because they don't want to face any conflict with the staff. In my opinion, DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!! I hope this review was helpful. Any restaurant that treats the patrons like garbage should be out of business, period!!! I would not even consider carry out. Boycott this establishment!!! Thank you.
Lotus Pond has the BEST Chinese food around! And it is so reasonably priced. My family & I recently got the dinner for 3 and it fed 6 of us! And it was delicious. I highly recommend the dinners ... they give you an egg roll, sweet roll, soup, fried rice, the main course(s), and dessert. You really can't beat it. My family & I have been going there since I was little, and my husband is not from around here but has also commented on how great their food is. The only thing is that, not all of the waitstaff is 100% fluent in English. But the food ... no comparison. Try it! It's just south of 12 mile on the east side of Hoover in Warren.
Very good food . I never had something I didn't like . The food is hot and ready for carry out . The people are hard working . I wish it was a non smoking establishment . But still a five star eatery .
Dudeee.... Lotus Pond is the greatest most amazing chinese restaurant in Michigan... The Pad Thai is simply amazing... Almond Boneless Chicken... and the Sweet n Sour Chickin too... i cant get enough of this place. You can usually catch me up at the Pond 2 days a week wit me crew which includes the infamous PP Rodrigo, H to the MF-IN Uttchie... and some other cats that might be rolling up in the mizzzioooxxx include Sizzly Sarle and well thats really about it... but give us a shout if you see us up there. Just yell smoke and if i bark back you'll know its me. The wait staff at Lotus is one great composure we laugh alot and tell several jokes which sometimes leads up us laughing during our order, which hopefully does not translate into some of dat deuce deuce in our food. but i highly reccommend The Pond that Lotus built
