PF Chang's - Troy
Don't let P.F. Chang's shopping mall location, informal atmosphere and low prices fool you, it is a good Chinese restaurant. The Cantonese duck, pan-fried noodles, Malaysian chicken and fried eggplant are popular entrees. The beers and desserts come from both East and West. They also offer a range of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes to cater to those with dietary restrictions. The decor features reproductions of Chinese art, including models of the clay soldiers of ancient Xian.
Food options and quality might give it a four star - price and noise give it a three. It is a typical casual dining option that happens to do Chinese and as a fan of hole in the wall or strip mall Chinese places I find it a bit sterile and overpriced. But Detroit does not have a good asian food base, and for folks who are just experimenting in this cuisine they do a credible job.
This is a clean restaurant with a pretty layout. The prices are pretty good , although they have a few expensive dishes. Great place for a nice romantic evening , its not a place where they serve kiddie food the food it is very sophisticated.
I would not call it authentic Chineese food but it is very good and I have always has great service. I usually stop there for a business lunch or after work. I don't care for chain food places but this doesn't feel like a chain eatery to me.
Everything I have tried on the menu is very good.
I wish they had a bigger bar area though.
The only reason I came back was for the lettuce wraps... and immediately I regretted it. When asking for an estimate on how long the wait was we got a blank stare from the hostess who told us she would let us know in 5 minutes. That's right - a wait to find out how long our wait would be. After talking to the manager who was even less help - we waited more than two hours - saw couples arrive eat and leave all while waiting for a table for two. This seems average for all PF changs. Horribly managed - specifically the seating.
Well we have all had chinese food and most of the time it's greasy mess. Not to mention the MSG(monosodium glutamate) The preserveative that's suppose to give bland food flavor. At PF Changs China Bistro none of he above apply.
Besides the food being delicious and the ambiance is wonderful. Beautiful dark woods, white linen cloths with just a touch of red. Not like some of the Asian spots that over power you with that tacky decor.
By the looks of the place you get the feeling an entree could be costly on the contrary it's affordable enough to take the whole crew. Best of all you if you aren't fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese not to worry because the waitstaff speaks english. Each time I eat there I notice the food is consistantly good. At PF Changs all the old staples are on the menu along with some of your favorites. The difference is taste is fresh and the atmosphere is classy.
