First this restaurant DOES take credit cards. They have been updating the interior little by little and have many plans over the next year to make it more comfortable and inviting. The food has been improved and updated to modern Cantonese and other Chinese provence offerings. As for eggrolls or any food bigger is not better. The quality has improved greatly including the use of healthy oils and fresher ingredients, new dishes, glassware and silverware. I have observed at least 3 banquets in the last 6 months as I dined and they looked exquisite and I could hear all those dining claiming how unique and flavorful the dishes were. In over 35 years of eating here I have never seen any banquets. Their tables and platters were beautiful and I definitely will have a banquet soon for some of my family and clients. Yes, things have changed here but to the better as anyone reasonable would hope. Change is happening everyday but is not for everyone. My family and I will continue to support Gim Ling as we have for over 35 years with a new appreciation for the new changes and their concern for our health and new dining experiences. I can't wait to see what is in the new plan here. EdJS
Not impressed. Food is decent but portions are small and pricey. In the end, a bad experience when comparing their menu prices to value. Service not overly attentive for such a small venue. My companion and I were charged an extra $3.00 for two extra Coke refills and $1.00 for two extra dinner rolls. Not the way to get great word of mouth business. I guess this restaurant may have missed the fact that there are an abundance of other Chinese cuisine restaurants on Harper Ave where the food is just as good and the owership doesn't try to nickel and dime you to death. Amazing how in this ecomomy some restaurants just don't get it. Gim Ling's is a prime example.
I have been dining/carry-out from Gim Ling for years, the food is good however the prices are steep and they will charge you for every little thing they can. I asked for a small one ounce cup of spicy mustard for the 2 egg rolls I ordered and they said it was extra. Also there have been at least 3 times where the Lady that is taking orders and running the front register was unnecessarly rude to me.
Two words: GIM LING in St Clair Shores MI, Incredible food and the interior is being renovated to new heights of Chinese restaurant design! Just checkout the use of copper and REAL Chinese artifacts on the gallery wall! Even the restroom facilities rival anything you've seen in trendy restaurants (that have lousy food).
I personally have never had a bad experience at Gim Ling. Best Chinese food I've ever eaten!! Me and my girlfriend absolutely love their Orange Chicken..its amazing! Yes prices are higher than most places but i think its worth it. The portion sizes are always huge, always have leftovers. Never had bad service.
