El Charro Restaurante Mexicano
The original Fraser, Michigan location opened in 1973 and could only accommodate 45 patrons. With authentic recipes from Delia's parents, Consuelo and Rosalio Rendon, and financial backing from George's parents, George, Sr. and Lila Martin, word began to spread and El Charro began to grow. In 1978, the capacity doubled in sized to 90 seats. A new 60-seat restaurant with a convenient drive-thru window opened in 1980 in St. Clair Shores. By 1992, the original Fraser location, still not large enough to accommodate the growing crowds, led to the construction of a new 240-seat restaurant in downtown Fraser. The most recent location in Macomb, with seating for 120 patrons, celebrated its one-year anniversary in 2005.
Get food and service and a very reasonable price. The wife and I visit on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. The only reason it didn't receive all five stars was the somewhat stark nature of the facility itself which is located in a rather plain strip shopping mall. Not very upscale but still a great place to eat.
I've been to El Charro's for two baby showers. The food is excellent, the service is great, and I will definitely be back on my own. And to people who leave their doggy bag at the restaurant...how many people who leave their doggy bag at the restaurant actually COME BACK to pick it up? I sure as heck don't .I would have thrown it out too.
The food here is not that close to Mexican food at all. It's okay if you like fake Mexican food like Taco Bell and Del Taco. Go to Paco's Tacos or go to Mexican Town in Detroit for better food. Or go to Azteca Rest. One by the Oakland Mall, and theres one on Dequider. Happy Eating.
