I live on the southernmost tip of Texas where part of the city I live in is bordered by Mexico and the other side by the Gulf of Mexico. I was raised on Mexican food thus I am very familiar as to what it should be.
On several occasions I have eaten with friends and family at Hacienda Mexican Restaurant and every time I did I could not believe that I was paying for the food.
The temperature of the food, the presentation of the food, the size of the servings, the restaurant staff and the overall ambiance at Hacienda were all good but the taste and authenticity of the food (the dish itself) left me desiring Taco Bell (and I dont care for Taco Bell).
If you want to order drinks and have a good time over chips and salsa this is an ok place to go. However, if you are hungry and are looking for good authentic Mexican food Hacienda does not have it.
This location is closer to home, who would think there would be such a difference from one location another. Was not impressed with the service or the food. It seemed the food (maybe not all) was microwaved. I can microwave at home at less than half the cost of 1 dinner.
Food is really great, and they're good at accomodating special requests (like vegetarian) meal options. Servers are quick, and most of them are friendly. At busy times, it's really loud because of all the tile and hard floors. Carryout is ok, but the food quality usually suffers and they almost always will leave out the sauces, dressings, etc. The wet burrito, nachos, flautas, taco salads, and enchiladas are all wonderful.
The thing I like best about Hacienda is the margaritas. But since I'm 7 months pregnant it'll be a while before I enjoy that again. Food is okay; I recommend the chicken taco salad. Service is okay, not exactly fast; our waitress forgot about all of her tables for about 45 minutes.
Me and my wife went in on a Sunday afternoon about 1pm we waited about 15min for service after being seated. When the waitress came she forgot her pin she mixed up the order and never came back to fill our glasses. She was very rude what few times she was at our table. I will never go back to this location.
