Decided on something different, so we thought we would give Gerst Haus a try. Took the family (Ranging from ages 6 to 42) The wait wasn't too bad (20 minutes or so) considering how busy it was at 6pm Saturday night. Food was awsome! Very good selection ! Server was very attentive and managed to keep our 6 year old entertained throughout. Overall, Highly recommended, Not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but by no means the most expensive. Beer prices in particular were exceptionally reasonable!!

I have been to the Gerst Haus, many, many times and will continue. From the food to beer selection to the service, this place is amongst my favorites in Evansville, IN. The food here is as close to authentic German food you will get in the U.S. and covers many regions of Germany. Try the Kraut balls appetizer, amazing!!

Have gone to Gerst and each time I thoroughly enojyed the atmosphere and meal as well. Their stroganoff is incredible as are their other selections. Not sure about the 'friend pickles' though Liz,lol not that bold yet.

I was at this restaurant as part of a gathering to remember my brother-in-law on the day of his burial. The day before the funeral I was at the Gerst with my niece to go over the details of hosting a few guests for meat & veggie appetizers with a budget of $500. We spoke with an employee named Sam who wrote down the instructions which included all alcohol payment as the responsibility of the drinkers. The next day Sam was not available, but there was a manager on duty. The restaurant was not prepared for our arrival (previously discussed as 3:30-5:30), there were no veggie appetizers, the wait staff did not bill the guests for their alcohol, and they presented my niece with a $1300.00 bill. I spoke with the manager on duty several times to repeat our instructions; she said "ok, ok, ok", but only after I explained that my sister (the widow) would not be picking up the alcohol tab did she comprehend why we were there in the first place. She did apologize and say the wait staff would be collecting separately for the alcohol, but they still gave my niece a $1300.00 bill. Overall a very, very disappointing experience especially considering why we were there in the first place, and that we could have gone to the golf club restaurant since my brother-in-law loved to golf. BTW, when I mentioned the lack of veggie appetizers the manager instructed the cooks to make two potato pancakes for me as if I were the only vegetarian; I had to keep requesting more for the buffet table, and everyone ate them.

first time going there yesterday, and it was awesome! prices a bit pricy but the food is so worth it, great portions, friendly staff, huge tenderloins! awesome fried pickles...even better than hooters! they give you a very large order of fried pickles. will definatly go there again when money allows.

My husband is third generation German(like most people from this area) so his father cooks the best Authentic German food. The food here reminds me of the beauty of German Cuisine. The "Around the World" beer was amazing. It contained six small glasses of beers from around the world. It was very fun to try new things, and experience a different culture. The building is very old, and in wonderful condition.
