Since January of 1961, the Hanselmans have been the proprietors of the Schnitzelbank Restaurant, a well known landmark in the predominantly German community of Jasper, Indiana. The Schnitzelbank Restaurant has gone through several transformations over the years and is at present a family oriented restaurant complete with catering and banquet facilities.
My wife and I had dinner here after a fun day at Holiday World and were stunned! The closeness to our hotel (50 foot stumble), the freshness of the food, the authenticity of the food (the spatzel is awesome), and the fact we got Oktoberfest-sized glasses (32 oz each) of Warsteiner Dunkel for only $7.50! It's a goo thing the hotel was close or we wouldn't have mad eit back!! Next summer, I'm taking my best friends there after a fishing trip.
This place in Southern Indiana is great! The service was all right, the people were exceptionally nice. They run a really good program. The only problem I had is that the food is so expensive otherwise a great place.
The Schnitzelbank is a great place to sit down with friends and family and have an unbelievable meal......it has a fun environment and really makes you feel as if you were in Germany....they make you feel very comfortable!
This is our favorite place to stop whenever we are passing through southern Indiana. The food is fantastic. The servers are very kind and patient in helping you find what you want on the menu and they definately know their menu !! The german sampler is my favorite and you get to pick 3 kinds of meat and it comes with german fries and a vegetable and the MOST WONDERFUL salad bar. My husband ordered a steak and it was by far the best he has had for many years. Our kids enjoyed the childrens menu and I not only loved my food and service but the GIFT SHOP was a fun way to spend some time. People.. GO TO THE SCHNITZELBANK.. you will be glad you did!! It is worth the money and the drive!!! Best German food around and we have been around!! Germany watch out!! The Snitzelbank knows GERMAN!!
The Schnitzelbank has OK food but i feel it is over-priced. This may sound funny but there is a long wait to be seated, yes they are busy, i feel its the name that sells, its in a german town. i would never say dont go there because i have. Just bring your wallet
