Cafe Pizzaria, Bloomington

Opening itac2s doors in February of 1953, Cafe Pizzaria was Bloomingtonac2s first pizzeria. The menu consisted only of pizza, but their signature Hot Submarines and Strombolis were quickly added to the list of delicious menu items. Originally named acoeThe Pizzariaac the name was changed to acoeCafe Pizzariaac in the late-sixties. Cafe Pizzaria featured a full-service Mexican menu, acoeLa Tortilla,ac from 1967acc71. A Spanish dungeon theme was used to decorate the back room of the restaurant, including: rod iron light fixtures, giant distressed beams on the ceiling, and whiskey barrels and kegs used as tables and chairs. Remnants of this decor remain in the restaurant. A second kitchen was added to prepare the Mexican food, now used to prepare our grilled sandwiches and burgers.
